I have a 89 C1500. 5.7 TBI. It started to overheat about a month ago so i changed the thermostat. It was running fine until now. The gauge will get hot then go back down. Sometimes it will go back up but sometimes it stay down. I dont see any leaks from the radiator. My heat work and I dont have any white smoke from my exhaust. I read that the fan may be the problem. I really dont have alot of money to through it in a shop. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If it's the stock fan.............The clutch may have gone bad.
Check to see if the fan is spinning when the engine is hot. It's probably working intermittently.

Get some electric fans for a 95-96 Impala and wire them in with relays and a thermostat kit. About $150 total.

Problem solved for good.ctric Fan Thermostat Kitt. About $150 bucks total investment. Problem solved.
