Thinking of heading to Vegas in early July. Bloch finally got his bracelet, Negreanu already with a couple of cashes. I got some bets going with buddies. My 5 against his. I'll post the lineups once I get back to work Tues.

That Mixed Max sounds interesting. Anyone ever play that style of a tournament?

This year's WSOP was pretty depressing. Attendance seemed way down and the remaining players seemed much younger and tougher than any of the past Ive attended. There are still some soft spots in the STTs, but even the cash games were relatively tough.

The new dealers are really green. They make a lot of mistakes and that results in fewer hands per hour.

Id say that its still worth attending because its every poker player's favorite time of the year, but it was a bit of a downer.

On Twitter, there are innumerable dealer complaints. Now quit complaining and handle business

Rather than go during the series, I have decided to make my first trip to Vegas during a downtime (next month). I'll let you know how it goes.

Conventional wisdom says to play during tournaments, but in general I have found the cash games during tournaments to not be all that juicy. People always hype them up because there are more tables running and higher stakes running but that does not necessarily mean one's expected hourly is going to be higher at that time than other times.

Also, Winstar's River Series kicks off this Thursday (that's the casino I play at mainly). I guess I'll see how the cash games are going to be during that poker tournament series. Obviously a lot of bad players will come up from Dallas/Ft. Worth but I wonder if that will be balanced with a lot of pros coming in from around the country plus the Dallas underground cash game pros as well as the tournament grinders who tend to be decent in cash games.
