The KSW star was offered a four-fight deal by the UFC recently but made public comments about the financial terms being unacceptable to him. He is paid $30,000 per fight in Poland, plus sponsorship, and is slowly edging onto mainstream television chat shows and the like.

...

Fighters Only spoke to a source on the Zuffa side who said that Khalidov's comments were puzzling considering that he was offered a $20,000/$20,000 deal. That means that his first fight, if he won it, would be worth $40,000. If he lost he would get $20,000 - less than his KSW rate but more than UFC newcomers who are unknown in the US.

Khalidov's management supposedly told the UFC that his overall package had to be higher because the sponsors would not follow him from KSW to the UFC. "That was a strange thing to say," said the source. "It equates to 'please pay him more, because nobody wants to sponsor him' - does that make your fighter sound more attractive or less attractive to a promoter?"

the hundred grand thing is discretionary not mandatory, and is a sliding scale with 100k being the top amount , chargeable to major corporations

khalidovs sponsors are PolSat oriented (the major Polish tv network) and wouldnt get a lot out of him being on US PPV

Strange he turned that down, he is a nobody in the US, if he wins he gets more plus bonus money, he could make 40k for the fight, sponsor money and if he won a FOTN or KO or SUb on a PPV he would make over 100k.

He wont get a better offer than that.

Guess he will continue to fight nobodies in KSW.

Because he'd only consider it a pay cut if he has no confidence in his abilities. If he thought he'd win and be a serious MW contender, he'd make at least $40K for his first fight, and more for subsequent fights. In KSW he's maxing out at $30K plus sponsorships. In the UFC the sky's the limit.

its good for the sport that anyone in Poland is paying fighters more than a few hundred bucks to fight. Surprising actually.

In a weird way it's better for UFC to have a scene building over there with him being on his own rather than them signing him and getting thrown to the wolves. They can scoop him up in a few years.

I think from an expected value stand point he is better off fighting cans for more money and waiting for a better offer from the UFC. IE he is more likely to make more money easier employing this strategy than being fed to the wolves for peanuts in the UFC.

I don't really agree with that. The "peanuts" he'd be paid in the UFC isn't really any less than what he already makes, and the potential upside if he won a few fights is huge. The only way staying with KSW gives him a better expected value is if you assume he won't be competitive in the UFC.

I think the worst part of the deal offered is that its for 4 fights. He would be stuck at that pay even after 3 wins. If he is confident of his abilities I say do a one fight deal and negotiate after each fight. I think a big name in the UFC said this a while back... not sure. Phone Post

KSW has a problem with finding meaningful fights for Khalidov. All the top level MWs are signed to Zuffa.
20/20K is about what I expected he would get. 30/30K tops.

I don't think that's the case. Generally UFC contracts increase in pay going forward. I doubt he'd be paid 20/20 for all 4 fights on the contract.

There is zero chance he will ever get a

Sponsors don't all pay 100K and the fact that this keeps getting spread around here is pathetic.

The MOST that a sponsor has to pay is 100K. That is ONLY when they are rival sponsors to the actual sponsors of THE UFC. Some sponsors don't even have to pay at all.

Even if he loses and gets booted from the UFC, he'll have no trouble getting the same or more with his increased fame anyway.
Seems like a reasonable offer to me.

When he said laughable I figured they gave him an 8/8k contract.

For him 20/20 is reasonable.

who gives a shit. the thing about the UFC is you always see guys who fight there get better. they get into better camps and evolve faster due to tougher competition. if this guy thinks he's good fighting nobodies then good for him. but after a couple losses and he comes back to the table to see them offering him a 10/10 deal, he'll regret that decision.

good luck and have fun fighting nobodies in the middle of nowhere.

WHy not ask for a 20/20 for the first t wo fights and if he wins both those fights then a guarenteed raise for him.

that would be more reasonable for both parties.
