Guida walked into the cage as the overwhelming crowd favorite, but minute-by-minute, round-by-round he lost them.

Maynard spent much of the two opening two rounds stalking Guida, but could hardly ever catch him. At times, his movement was simple and effective evasion from a dangerous situation. At other times, it could more simply be described as running away.

In the fourth round, Maynard dropped his hands to his side and verbally taunted Guida, offering his chin as a target. Guida took the opportunity to throw three strikes, and Maynard never even raised his hands to defend himself, he was so unconcerned with Guida's power. Then Guida ducked low for the takedown, and Maynard sprawled before trying a guillotine.

With that, any remaining members of the Atlantic City, New Jersey crowd that were originally rooting for Guida completely swung in Maynard's favor, so thrilled that he'd lured Guida into some sustained offense.

In the fifth, Maynard again basically opened up his defense hoping for Guida to wade in, but he mostly resisted until referee Dan Miragliotta called timeout to warn Guida he would take a point away if he continued to fail to engage.

Before the official result was read, the Revel Casino crowd chanted Maynard's name, and received their wish.

Gray Maynard's gonna show us some new striking abilities in this fight.

I expect a TKO in the 3rd for Maynard.

Im going with Gray by 2nd round TKO, he has improved his strking and is now showed he will swarm and keep on strking when he rocks you.

Guida has a bad tendency of getting into brawls and that might get him caught like when he fought Florian, and Gray is more powerful than KenFlo

Also I believe his wrestling is gonna be too much for Clay when it goes there Phone Post

I think Maynard is gonna land a power shot on Guida and put him away in the third.

OK. Guess I was wrong about Maynard's KO. Guida's running/movement is frustrating Maynard. I have no idea who's winning this fight.

Incredible gameplan by Guida with tying up his long hair and going with something that resembles cornrows.

By the end of the 1st round, Guida already had Maynard frustrated and completely out of whatever gameplan he had.

Because in the 2nd round, Gray had to lower his stance and was even so weirded out that he switched to southpaw.

It just kinda sucks now that Guida is on his bicycle, however, for a 5 round fight, he is wisely respecting Gray's striking power but to me it seems that the mental game is quickly sliding in favor of Guida.

But the fight is still going and either of these guys can still finish each other with one good clocking.

See what I mean? Gray just got ANGRY, dropped his hands and standing throwing knees... massively tight guillotine but due to the fight being in the 4th round, Guida was just sweaty enough to power out of it.

4-0 Guida, no question. I totally see Guida jumping off his bike and getting onto Secretariat and throwing the last round to win a majority decision IF Gray don't catch him.

Lets see. :-)

Thank you, thank you. I'll gladly take a bow now.

It will be Guida 5-0 Unanimous Decision.

I am Mr. UFC. I see things before they happen.

I do not make threads, I end them.

Goodnight, UG.

Guida made Maynard fight his style. His running and flailing of arms were very effective against a brawler of Maynard's caliber. Guida by UD.

Guida is terrible to watch and the definition of anti-fighting.

I'm so glad Maynard won and I never thought I'd say that.

No one should win a fight anywhere doing what Guida did tonite. He robbed everyone of a good fight with that bullshit gameplan of his. I'm very glad the judges sent a message...

This implies that the judges were deliberately trying to prove a point instead of fairly judging the fight. The judges called the fight exactly correct. No message other than Gray won fair and square.
