The FBI arrested the hacker that went after Dana White and the UFC

http://middleeasy.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=8387:the-fbi-arrested-the-hacker-that-went-after-dana-white-and-the-ufc&catid=34:organizations

Earlier this year, UFC.com and Dana White was held hostage by a 13-year-old hacker named 'JoshTheGod' part of the UGNazi group. After the site (and Twitter account) was initially defaced, ZUFFA literally challenged UGNazi to hack the company again -- and they did. The only thing we needed to complete January 2012 was an appearance by short-haired Angelina Jolie garbed in a leather motorcycle jacket. Damn that's a ridiculously long stretch of a reference. If I ever pull something like that again on MiddleEasy, feel free to slap me in the face and steal all of my lunch money.

Now according to a recent press release from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the organization completed an international 'cyber crime takedown' which included arresting the infamous JoshTheGod.

Mir Islam, a/k/a “JoshTheGod,” trafficked in stolen credit card information and possessed information for more than 50,000 credit cards. Islam also held himself out as a member of “UGNazi,” a hacking group that has claimed credit for numerous recent online hacks, and as a founder of “Carders.Org,” a carding forum on the Internet. Last night, Islam met in Manhattan with an individual he believed to be a fellow carder—but who, in fact, was an undercover FBI agent—to accept delivery of what Islam believed were counterfeit credit cards encoded with stolen credit card information. Islam was placed under arrest after he attempted to withdraw illicit proceeds from an ATM using one of the cards. Today, the FBI seized the web server for UGNazi.com and seized the domain name of Carders.org, taking both sites offline.

Joe Rogan was wrong, you can stop the internet, but only if you're a massive crime-fighting bureau with seemingly unlimited resources. Of course, the 'unlimited resources' part is a topic that only David Icke can truly tackle.

love the writing style on Middleeasy. Funny and informative at the same time. He doesn't take himself too seriously.

Why couldn't they arrest him with just buying the fake stolen credit cards?  Is that not illegal?

If buying fake weed is illegal, buying fake stolen credit cards should be as well ... right?

I guess letting him actually try to withdraw money further establishes that he had intent to buy stolen credit cards.  You can arrest a guy for receiving stolen property, but they'll have an easier case with a little more evidence that he knew what the cards were for and intended to take out money for himself.

Probably have a bigger case against him once he goes to use it. Instead of him trying to claim "Im just the middle guy", he now has been caught trying to use it..
Just my guess

That's the way the FBI does it. They gather more than enough evidence for conviction, usually conducting several controlled buys, and effectively eliminate any possible defense for the target. Phone Post

Difference between only getting a conviction for possession of stolen property, or getting a conviction for credit card fraud + possession of stolen property.

They put a lot of time into these stings, so they make sure their time is worth it.

Originally believed to be a goofy looking 13 year old kid from Australia, now he's a fat 18 year old dirtbag in NYC? lol.

Doing shit like taking down the Wounded Warrior Project website stirs the ire of the TRUE internet geeks who aren't teenagers. They are security experts that do this shit for a living. They join forces and hunt down these nerdy script kiddies. That's why the UGNazi got caught. Don't fuck with the good guy nerds.

Exactly the type of person I suspected that would take down a charity website for wounded soldiers...
