Former UFC light heavyweight Rashad Evans told ESPN.com on Thursday that he is giving "serious consideration" to moving to the middleweight division.

"I've been thinking about going down to middleweight lately," Evans said. "I haven't totally made up my mind. It's something I'm going to think about a little more in the coming months and see where my body's at, but I'm definitely giving it serious consideration. The odds of me moving down to 185 are 50-50 or better."

"I'd like to go right into a title fight, but realistically there are other contenders at 185, and to skip over everybody wouldn't be fair. So, it would make sense for me to establish myself in the weight class and have a fight or two, whatever the case may be."

"I'm pretty sure I can make the cut," said Evans, who has a professional mixed martial arts record of 17-2-1, "but I've never been down that low. If I decide to move down, I will do a practice cut first to make sure my body can do it. That will determine whether I can fight at middleweight or not.

"I will also talk to my management team as well to see what they think, whether I should move down to 185. The last thing I want to do is move down and become half the athlete I am at 205.

If he can perform the same cutting there, money move.

IF. Even with a wrestling background, he hasn't done a hard cut in a long time. Phone Post

Rashad, Nike says they are gonna have to take a pass on the sponsorship. However in regards to the weight class change they say, "Just do it."

This is impossible, everyone knows all that happens when you move down is you have an unfair advantage over everyone else in the division.

If Marquardt can look like he did last night at WW, Hashad should be able to do it. Phone Post

When you meet Rashad, the first thing that you realize is that he's not that big a guy,  And then you remind yourself that he fought at heavyweight when he was on TUF and it's that much more impressive.  If he can make the weight cut, I think he could be a contender at 185.

Who cares?  I have no desire to see Rashad lose another title fight in unimpressive fashion.

i think he should do it. Getting a mw belt and a lhw belt on the resume should be a nice little goal if you got the frame for it.

I think it's a really good idea for Rashad.  His one big problem is with guys with big power, and there are a lot less power punchers in the MW division than in the LHW.  I think the only guys who really can beat him at 185 are probably Anderson and Lombard, but I think they would all be very competitive fights.

You don't understand much do u?

No it is certainly you that doesn't understand much
You think the only possibility of him making the weight cut is him having a huge advantage? <br>Yeah because that's the only outcome, he could make the weight and have a horrible cut, and perform awful because of it, not be nearly as strong or quick etc come guys if your going to comment at least have some knowledge of what you are speaking of

Ha haha... Whoosh!

If he thinks the cut isnt going to affect him then its an easy decision. A fight with Anderson would be huge
