I in Brazil and I want a phone that I can make skype calls with, listen to MP3s, and use as a planner. I don't want to pay for a monthly service though. Is there a phone I can buy jailbroken like this? I would get an iphone, but I don't want to deal with itunes.

You can make telephone calls using an Android phone using Wi-fi, even if your cell service is down.

I know because I just switched from a T-Mobile G2 to a HTC One S and the sim cards are different sizes, so I had to install and activate a new one.

While I was waiting for the activation to be completed, I used my home wi-fi to make phone calls on my new cell phone. I also surfed the net, added phone apps, all using my home wi-fi. I can't imagine that Skype would be much different. They always say that data intensive activity should be handled by wi-fi anyway.

I'm sure it will work.
