Today, Dana White reported exclusively to the Underground that Tim Sylvia would not be joining the Zuffa roster, under either the UFC or the Strikeforce banner.

It was widely reported that the ex-UFC heavyweight champion had signed a four-fight contract with the promotion, and would fight Strikeforce Grand Prix Champion Daniel Cormier in late Septemnber.

However, this appears to not be the case. White said the signing was never announced, and that "long story, but yes, Tim is not with Zuffa."

White received criticism earlier today, as he had told the media that Tim Sylvia was not an option to fight Cormier, before today's news of Sylvia's signing broke online

But, as is usually the case with rumors, in the words of White himself: "Never a FACT unless I say it is."

We pretty much all think that but as an owner of Zuffa, he has everything to do with being in the know of who Zuffa signes, (whether he had something to do with it or not).

That's a shame, I was really looking forward to Tim getting Cormier on his stomach and fuck up Cormier's hands with his face.

This sucks how Overeem can wait 40 minutes and that washes away how he "lied" to Dana and screwed a main event.

Marquardt can quit TRT and that washes away the fact he also screwed a main event.

Sylvia?

Beat up Big Nog at UFC 81 until getting caught and decided to make a fuck ton to fight Fedor.

So, what did he do that was so bad?

Tim never blew a main event.

This is bullshit.

Tim Sylvia deserves more respect than most heavies in UFC as a former champ. Phone Post

It's a shame when it's clear politics are keeping fans from seeing a fight. I was never a Tim fan by any means, but I do agree he poses some interesting matchups with some of the heavyweights, not the top guys though. Maybe it's just Tim wants big money and Uncle Dana don't wanna pay, and I don't think he's big money either. I've heard rumors about a TUF comeback season, wonder if he'd humble himself and try that road in. Phone Post

I love you Dana, but this is proof you really don't like Tim Sylvia.LOL Not being a hatter though because I dont know all the little details. Tim should have never left for Affliction,he might still have a job with the UFC.

If it ain't Dutch, it ain't much - He is signed to Forza then?
Who knows if Tim is signed or not, if so great.
If not, maybe we get to see Cormier vs sergei kharitonov who is rumored to of been signed.
Sergei always comes to fight but having the tourney winner fight someone who lost earlier in the tourney as the grand finale is kind of anticlimactic. Phone Post

actually Dana white saying something doesn't even close to make it a FACT. Just ask about the HBO deal, and a list of other shit that never happened.

Two reasons why Tim will forever be discarded by UFC... They would never allow boxing superiority (via Mercer) or allow Fedor to bring a shadow over their "potential" HW holder.. It's a lose/lose situation.

I like Tim, Dana does seem to have something against him. That said, Tim Sylvia has NOT done much to get back into the UFC either. He is extremely out of shape (even by Sylvia standards), he is fighting fat guys, guys with mediocre records, the "tough" fights he does have he doesn't look good at all.

If Sylvia wants to get back into the UFC, there are plenty of TOUGH fights for him outside the UFC. If he wants to get back into the UFC why doesn't he beat enough TOUGH fighters that Dana can't simply keep ignoring him? Begging his fans to twitter bomb Dana White doesn't seem to be working.

I agree with DFW here. Tim hasn't done much in terms of beating credible opponents to earn a return. Phone Post

Yeah it's not like he talked shit about his former employers when he left......

Oh please, pretty much EVERY fighter has done this and vice versa on Dana's part....and he often lets those guys back.

In which lifetime?

 what are you disagreeing with?
That Cormier wouldn't end up on his stomach(on top of Tim)?
That Cormeir might hurt his hands on Tim's face?

he probably didn't understand it, it's poorly written, and the play on words is easy to miss.

UG News appears to have contacted Dana White and nobody else for this report -- as usual. MMAJunkie is still sticking to their story. If I had to guess, Dana is just splitting hairs and Sylvia may have a verbal agreement but not a signed one. So saying he isnt signed to Zuffa would be technically true, but he could still be close to signing. Like I said though, I'm just guessing, since nobody reporting on this story seems to be trying very hard to report it fully

Whatever is really happening, LOL at the slavish asskissing by UG News whenever Dana comes calling. If he doesn't say it, it isn't true? Is that really a statement you want to endorse? Keep in mind this guy will literally deny anything if it gets leaked ahead of it's intended reveal date (another distinct possibility here).
