"I'm right there with the top guys," proclaimed Faber. "Renan Barao is on a [30-fight] win streak. I don't feel like I wasn't beat up in the fight, I feel like I just lost. I didn't do enough to win. I landed some good punches, I was elusive in the fight. I just fought Dominick Cruz, I thought won that fight, I knocked him down three times, didn't really take too much damage there also. It's not like I'm getting severely outclassed here by any of these guys. I'm just a smidgen off and I've got some things to work on."

The thing is, Faber isn't exactly wrong. His critics may have gotten louder with each failed title shot, but he still keeps getting them, and you'd be hard-pressed to say any other guy in the division deserved it more. So, the way Faber sees it, go ahead and let his haters talk about slowing down. It just adds more fuel to the fire.

"The bottom line is, in the last nine years, I've been fighting guys at the top-5 of the weight class, at whatever the given time is," the longtime WEC star concluded.

"I don't think that needs to change. Would I like get some fight of the night bonuses? ... Could I get some bonuses on big fights against [lower ranked guys]? Sure, some entry level guys. But I'm right there at the top, man.

"I'm right there in the running. If you can line up some guys that are going to beat me up and put me out the running, then let's do that. But until then I'm just going to keep training and stay positive."

Faber is more marketable than any of these guys. Cruz has no personality. Barao is Brazilian and we all know that Brazilians =/= PPV draws. Fact.

He actually has a point.

He needs to switch it up and go to a legit camp like ATT or AKA to really push himself and learn some new stuff. Its obvious he's peaked at Alpha Male, time to change it up. Phone Post

Give him another title shot, Dana. Lets see what he can do in the 179 lb division.

i used to defend faber title fights but yes he's become another kenflo... just trying to survive and make the title fights close enough so he can cash the next title fight check.

if he wanted more shots he should have left everything in the cage.  he did nothing.

As soon as these guys realize they cant win the fight we have to sit through 5 rounds of them just trying to survive so they can get paid to fight for it again.

Im done with Faber title shots.

FinestScotch - He's not entirely wrong, I mean no one has put a beating on him that made him look like he didn't deserve to be there.
Have you ever heard of a this guy named Jose Aldo? Phone Post

All of its true except for Jose Aldo definitely did put a severe beating on him. He's great but maybe too comfortable? I like the idea of him going to a new gym and everything but seems like it wouldn't happen because he's so invested in Alpha Male. Dom and him are still 1-1 so they will be due for a rematch eventually just to clear the air and UFC loves them rematches.

The mother fucker fights with broken bones through five round fights. He is right up there, when you put him up against someone who is less than top 5 he rapes them. He is competitive in title fights even when he loses. How many title fights has he won? Phone Post

TopGrinder - Faber is the new Ken Choke Flo 2.0. Wouldn't be surprised if company man Faber gets gifted another undeserved titleshot within a year. Real talk...... <img src="/images/phone/apple.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>
A title shot within a year would not be a gift. He's more than capable of earning that. He is right at the top. Barao snapped his rib early, and barely beat him. Cruz barely beat him. He is right there with them.

When Dana was talking about another "lighter" weight class, he meant 140.

What I don't get is what happened to fabers wrestling? He seemed to time barao perfectly a few times after throwing punches but could not even budge him with the td attempts. Didn't he used to be a lot stronger ? Phone Post

I never get why people think he is SO marketable to the general public. Every time I'm with someone who sees him for the first time I get the same reactions;

A) "That chin is hilariously similar to that of an ass."

B) "Is he doing a Bart Simpson impression when he talks?"

C) "Is that Jay Leno's kid?"

Faber I say you know what? Keep fighting, but stop making excuses when you're 0-5 in title fights. Especially this last fight. Phone Post

Faber fan 4 life!! Tough and a great fighter!!

I believe he can beat most top contenders and Cruz when they fight again!

Have Faber fight Torres then rack up 2-3 more solid wins and get back in there for a belt!! Phone Post
