"I'm a lot different fighter than I was when I lost to Jones and Tito," Bader said. "I changed everything up. I got a bunch of new coaches. I got a head coach who is running everything now at Power MMA. It's been going great, and we're all better for it. I feel like I'm starting my MMA career (again) on a different level."

Game planning is a necessity against Machida, Bader said, who had been one of the toughest puzzles to figure out in UFC history before he lost his title to Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and had subsequent losses to Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Jones.

But Bader said his new training regime, which has improved his card thanks to the new coaching staff, makes this a winnable fight for him, despite Machida being a more than 3-to-1 favorite.

"I'm training right, I'm smarter. We're actually game planning for these guys," Bader said about this next fight, plus recent wins over Jackson and Jason Brilz. "Guys like Lyoto, you can't just go in there with a real loose game plan kind of just winging it like I used to. All the pieces of of the puzzle are in place now for me."

Yes. IMO. He has to be careful the way he frames the statement though, there are a lot of tools out there who think an intelligent strategy is a bad thing. They cry when Guida uses his cardio advantage, or when Chael uses his wrestling advantage.

But, they're just going to have to come to terms with the fact that this is a high-level pro sport now. They are the same clowns who boo'd and chanted "gay" or "homo" every time JJ was used in early UFC. They don't do that anymore, because they've learned. They'll continue to learn, and when they know what they're talking about, they're respect a fighter using his mind to win.

When fighters start talking gameplans all I hear is, my opponent is a better fighter than me so I better figure out some way to abuse the rules.

I like Bader but Machida has this. Bader has crumbled before when the take downs didn't work and I think Machida has the speed to shut it down and make him pay for his shots.

I dont have a problem with good wrestlers dominating people with their wrestling if theyre working. None of that Mike Pierce vs Rocha crap.

For the record Guida's strategy against Maynard did NOT use his cardio advantage Phone Post

Isn't it amazing how when somebody achieves success (like beating Rampage) it somehow comes out that it was all in the plans?

Oh, it just seems like people have an inability to just do well at something, they want you to believe that it was all part of a bigger picture. When he lost against Tito and Jon he was a different fighter, now that he wins against Rampage it's a big plan.

Alright dude.

Come on, give him a break. He's Tito's only win since 2006. That's a little embarassing. He's trying to save face and recover his dignity.

You go ahead and plan Bader. I've got your back.

Exactly.

I'm all for gameplans. Real gameplans that involve coming to fight and constantly threaten the opponent - whether it's on the feet, against the cage, or on the ground.

A lot of these guys that talk about "gameplans" and "strategies" though aren't trying to do that. They're trying to win by abusing the rules, not fighting with the intent the sport is about and the fans pay to see.
