Actually a great night of fights. Everyone came out to fight and I don't remember a boring one all night. There were a few questionable decisions by the stellar judges. I can think of one fight in particular where the hometown guy got a big decision that was not deserved.

I also question the half point scoring being used. It almost felt like the judges were a little unsure of how exactly to implement the system.

It was probably one of the most organized local events put on. Everything seemed to flow aside from having to reset cameras a few times. There was not a lot of down time and always exciting fights.

There were some sound issues. I was sitting cage side and could not hear any of the fighter interviews after the fights.

Aside from that Spartan and Champions both showed up big, beating some tough opponents from Georgia and Florida.

Triad guys had a bunch of fans supporting their guys. Of course Obrien looked tough and showed off his slick ground game. I would love to see more of it. He was using some transitions I had never seen before which had me very intrigued. Seems as though his opponent was getting the better of him on the feet but on the round he was levels beyond his opponent. Once it hit the ground the guy was in trouble the whole time.

Unfortunately the other Triad guy had to face a TOUGH kid from ATT Port St Lucy who was making his pro debut. The guy looked like he belonged in the big show immediately. Great head movement, strong stand up and very patient. On the ground he was an animal and did a lot of damage from inside the guard. So much so that the ref stopped it after the 2nd.

Champions guys came out strong and had a great showing. I don't know any of their guys and don't have the roster in front of me. Although, one of their guys almost killed a guy with a knee during one of the fights.

Spartan guys went 4-1 with the one loss a very close decision that could have just as easily gone the other way.

It was great to see Josh Robertson back after having a long break due to medical issues. He KO'd his guy at the last second of round 1. The guy was basically having a seizure in front of the ref and the ref didn't stop it. The guy finally said he couldn't continue and then staggered out of the cage never to be seen again. He was tough though and landed some big shots as well.

Seth had a dominating TKO against a guy from Triad I believe. Very dominating. He looked hungry for a fight and he looked great.

Hoyt fought a kid from Huntsville who was 10-0 and tapped him in what seemed to be the first minute of the fight.

Spartan had one other win from a kid who I am unsure of his name. It was a good fight but from what I remember he won an easy decision.

I'm sure I am forgetting some but that is what stuck out to me from last night.

Spartan Fitness had a great showing. They very nearly took a clean sweep. Their one loss seemed like it could just as easily have gone the other way.

That was his first fight and it was amateur. I believe he fought one other exhibition at iron horse or another bar prior to the commission but they announced him as 0-0. Seth is a great wrestler, one of the best in the state I would guess. I would have hated to face him for my first fight. Props to J. Blackmon for a great effort and to Seth for an impressive debut. I don't know about the other teams but Spartan had 5 fights. 2 went to decision but the other 3 all finished in the first round.

There were a few fights the other night that the ref gave some guys extra time after a round to decide if they were going to continue fighting or not which I had never seen before. One of the guys had actually already been knocked out, woke up and went to his corner and then decided he was done after the break. Interesting because he was KO'd at the end of the first about 6 inches away from the ref.

It was a fighter from Champions that gave them that one loss right?

With a wrestling background like the one he has why is he even fighting as an amateur? He should be fighting professionally.

I would venture to guess its because most promoters will not pay a guy as a professional that has never had an mma fight before. I know Daniel obrien went pro in his debut fight but he already had a pan am gold and a number of other recent competition wins. Seth was an average to above average collegiate wrestler. I would assume he will go pro quickly once he gets a few fights under his belt. Phone Post

Yeah, that's a lot to bite off for a first fight.  Seth looked very comfortable.  I was impressed.  I thought Joseph had it in the beginning.  He had him rocked.  He focused on the finish a little too much and ate a freaking right hand  from hell.  He said he couldn't even really see from that point on.  He was extremely nervous.  I promise, you will see a different Joseph once he gets the nerves worked out.  He's a beast.  He's seriously one of the toughest, hardest working, most violent, most brutal guys I know.  Sparring with him feels like sparring with a heavyweight.  His BJJ is slick as hell as well.

I was really impressed with Seth.  He kept his cool and did what he needed to do.  Spartan did great.  In my opinion, their only loss of the night really should have went to them.

It was a great night.  I liked seeing all of the bigger,  more respectable gyms fighting on a card.  If Spartan, Triad, SBJJ, Champions, etc.   keep fighting in state we can take the state back from all of the little pop up overnight gyms that have had the run of it for so long.

I am from Nevada . I moved here 8 months ago and have been to shows all over the south.I think Saturday night Sportfightx put on the best show that i have seen since living here. There was some really good match ups . I think Alabama has some great fighters .Champions beat 2 guys from Hardcore gym and Triad beat a guy from Hardcore gym.I was very impressed with the fighters. The 135lb fighter from Champions had amazing stand up , the main event guy from Triad had amazing ground game and the Spartan guy Seth was so powerful. Great night for ALabama fighters. Like the other post said i would love to see another Alabama show like this but put all Alabama guys against guys from out of state.
Jayne Cobb =yes it was a Champions fighter that beat Spartans guy ,it was a good close fight .I seen it different then Josh J. I agreed with the judges and thought the right guy won the fight.

 That fight was a robbery.

That tall "boxer with an MMA background" from Triad was slick once he let his hands go.
