I have a Samsung laptop with a 2 GB memory.

I would like to increase this to 6 GB.

What is the best way to go about doing this?

Or would it be worth buying an entirely new PC?

Thanks in advance.

You'll need to know how much RAM the laptop will support, what type of RAM, how many RAM slots laptop has, and how many are being used. You can download and run cpu-z to see your number of slots and how each is used.

A site like kingston.com allows you to enter your laptop model # to tell you how much RAM your laptop can support and what kind.

The vendor site will help you figure out where the slots are located and if you want to mess with them. Some laptops have RAM covers on the bottom and just need a screwdriver to access them. Others have slots under the keyboard.

Also, unless you are using a 64bit o/s there's zero benefit in having 6gb as a 32 bit system can only address just under 4gb max.
