I need to find a good ASP.NET host. Mostly to be used for practice/ proof of concept, but I will host some small websites that have growth potential.

- I would like to spend $500 or less per year, but reasonable upgrade prices.
- Sql server and latest .Net version
- Compatible with Visual studio.

I am a .Net programmer (have used linux hosting before) but I have not had an ASP.NET host so please tell me anything I should know or think about in making a decision.

thanks

Check out Azure maybe? Apply for BizSpark?

The only time I've had to worry is when I've used Full Text Search in SQL Server, other than that shop around. Could even do GoDaddy if you want.

Do you want just web hosting or a VPS?

I have used http://www.discountasp.net/ with good results.

Azure is the way to go

Just make sure you monitor usage like a hawk and play around with the Azure calculator before you sign up.

And if you don't care about performance, Azure websites (not DB) are free as long as it's a shared host instance. Dedicated resources cost money but they are cheap
