Didn't Kharitonov KO Ninja with a stomach punch?
Brazilians aren't as squeamish about back-of-the-head shots as we are. They're there to FIGHT.

No, he KO'd him with a ridiculous head shot against the ropes in the 04 HW GP.  Ninja is a middleweight that gained like 30 lbs so he could fight in the tournament.  It was really bad, he got hit with a combo that KO'd him mid way through.  His eyes were already rolled into the back of his head when Sergei hit him with the final power shot.  If you watch it in slow mo its one of the worst KO's you'll see.

I would say early, but given the damage Ninja has sustained over the years, I'm just fine with that stoppage. Phone Post

it's sad when fan fav fighters continue to fight, as fans we always welcome the possibility of a win well past their glory days, but every now and then we see fighters like ninja and saku who refuse to throw in the towel and it stops being fun to watch them, you start to expect the innevitable and just hearing an announcement that they are fighting hurts. one last gift to the fans ninja, retire :(

Smellde Gluve - Not sure if it was Arona but he had a similar chin in the sky posture. Maybe the dude was just proud of Paulo.

A while back I heard Arona just liked to hang out at the beach(surf?) and only took fights casually when his money was out. Not sure if true.

But then he was looking to have a casual meeting with Dana in vegas right?

After that I haven't heard anything.

When he beat Wandy in Pride was definitely one of the most exciting fights I've ever seen.

Looked like Arona to me.

I've heard that Arona will not run out of money.

He had a meeting with Dana in Vegas, but obviously nothing did happen. Not sure why.

Yeah so, amongst all the talk of Ninja retiring, what's up with Filho?

That was a solid win.

Is he back, is he training consistantly now or what?

Can we see him in a Bellator tourney or summit?

Bad stoppage.. if the fighter going for a single leg then the fight should not be stopped.

That is definitely Arona.  He met with Dana around the time of the second UFC Fan Expo.   I was there and talked to him for a little bit and he said he was there to see Dana and hoped to sign a UFC contract.  Obviously that never happened, but he seemed pretty excited about it at the time.

That sounds interesting.

The "will not run out of money" part.

Care to elaborate?

So sad to see how bad these dudes have gotten nowadays. Here's their first fight. They were both awesome back then.
