Anthony Johnson meets Jake Rosholt at Xtreme Fight Night event in Tulsa

Anthony Johnson was expecting his next fight would be against Jake Rosholt after his August win at Titan FC 24.

And it shall be. But rather than at an upcoming Titan show, Johnson (12-4) and Rosholt (12-4) will fast-track their meeting. The two are scheduled for the main event of an Xtreme Fight Night card next week in Tulsa, Okla.

Promotion officials recently announced the fight, which will take place at Xtreme Fight Night 9 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa.

Johnson in August move up to light heavyweight and easily took care of Esteves Jones in the main event of Titan FC 24 in Kansas City, Kan. Johnson nearly stopped Jones in the first round before putting him away with strikes in the second.

That win made Johnson 2-0 under the Titan banner since his release from the UFC in January following a first-round submission loss to Vitor Belfort at UFC 142.

Johnson went 7-4 in the UFC, but it was his infamous struggles to make weight that marred his time there. Johnson twice missed his mark fighting at welterweight. And when he elected to move up to middleweight for the Belfort fight, he missed weight badly and the two fought at a catch weight of 197 pounds.

In May, in his first fight for Titan, also at middleweight, he again missed his mark on the scale and again fought at a catch weight – this time at 195 pounds against fellow UFC veteran Dave Branch. Johnson went on to win by unanimous decision, then decided to move up to light heavyweight – meaning a very small weight cut for his fights and, he and his camp said, the ability to concentrate on training and the fight, not on the stress of cutting weight.

Rosholt also recently moved up from middleweight to light heavyweight, but his debut didn't have the same results as Johnson's. Rosholt was submitted by Matt Thompson in the first round of a regional show near Dallas in June.

Prior to that loss, Rosholt had been on a six-fight unbeaten streak, picking up five wins and a no contest. That no contest came in his lone fight for Titan in May 2011. Rosholt landed what was thought to be an illegal knee in the third round and originally was ruled the loser by disqualification. But the Kansas commission later overturned the result to a no contest.

Rosholt is 6-2, plus the no contest, since a 1-2 stint in the UFC that saw him drop first-round submissions to Dan Miller and Kendall Grove, but pick up a third-round submission win over Chris Leben at UFC 102. Rosholt has fought once under the Xtreme Fight Night banner before, losing to UFC vet Matt Horwich by TKO in November 2010.
