Any MMA gyms in Hamberg? I visited family there a couple of years ago and might go back... Would love to roll lite during European Vacation. Phone Post

Gabriel Tampu lost to Nikita Krylov by TKO in round 1 at M-1 Challenge 38.

Another German fighter, Christian Eckerlin, ranked no. 9 at welterweight, was decisioned by 1-0 Russian Rasul Abdulaev. Huge disappointment!

German featherweight prospect Martin Buschkamp (6-0 with 6 RNC finishes), top student of UFC vet Peter Sobotta, is set to make his Cage Warriors debut at Cage Warriors Fight Night 8 in UAE in May. He will be fighting Matteus Lahdesmaki from Finland.

Sorry for my long leave of absence, but I was busy at work. Now I'm back with a vengeance, as Saturday was a great day for German MMA.

Undefeated middleweight Benjamin Brinsa improved his record to 13-0 with a victory over former UFC fighter Daniel Stittgen. Brinsa tapped him with a Standing Guillotine Choke after just 33 seconds.

At Cage Warriors Fight Night 8 two Germans successfully made their debut.

Undefeated featherweight Martin Buschkamp, Germany's no. 2, improved his record to 7-0 with a victory over former Shooto european champion Matteus Lahdesmaki from Finland. Buschkamp completely dominated the fight in the striking, wrestling and grappling department and won a unanimous decision.

Judo black belt and BJJ brown belt Gregor Herb beat Englishman Mike Ling by a very questionable split decision. Aside from a quick knockdown in the last ten seconds of round one, Ling did nothing and got dominated on the ground for thirteen of the fifteen minutes. Yet a judge gave him the fight 29-28. Worst part of the fight was English referee Neil Hall who repeatedly stood the fighters up, although Herb was ACTIVE AND IN TOP POSITION the whole time, while Ling was just trying to cling onto him. Someone should teach Mr Hall some grappling.

Perfect Saturday but not a perfect weekend for German MMA. Andreas Kraniotakes, Germany's no. 1 heavyweight, just got beaten via split decision by former UFC champion Ricco Rodriguez at Cage Fight Series 7 in Graz, Austria.

Rodriguez officially weighed in at 104 kilograms (229 lbs), Kraniotakes at 111 kilograms (244 lbs). Rodriguez looked much better in shape than for some of his other recent performances.

A couple of great fight have been announced for German MMA Championship's fourth event on July 7th in Herne.

UFC veteran Carlos Eduardo Rocha makes his first appearance since being released from the UFC after losses to Jake Ellenberger and Mike Pierce. The BJJ black belt is set to fight French grappler Florent Betorangal.

KSW superstar Michal Materla faces former Respect.FC middleweight champion Sebastian Risch, who is some sort of a can crusher. Should be an easy victory for Materla.

Former M-1 light heavyweight (?) champion Rafal Moks challenges Abusupiyan Magomedov for the GMC welterweight title. Moks is way too small for Magomedov, should be an easy victory for the champion.

Germany's no. 1 heavyweight Andreas Kraniotakes faces Austria's no. 3 heavyweight Dritan Barjamaj, who got KTFO'd at the last M-1 Challenge event in Russia.

And Bellator MMA veteran Jonas Billstein battles Polish-German MMA pioneer Martin Zawada.

Is MMA still outlawed on television in Germany or is it at least available via satellite?

MMA is not outlawed on television in Germany, the TV stations outside of Bavaria just don't broadcast it right now because they didn't come to terms with the UFC. The UFC negotiated with a couple of big TV stations who are very interested in the UFC but it appears that they had different opinions on how to cooperate.

On June 1st we had two MMA events in Germany.

At Gladiators FC 2 Germany's no. 1 heavyweight Andreas Kraniotakes rebounded from his loss to Ricco Rodriguez with a quick RNC victory over French-Canadian Bruno Hosier. Is there an English word for a fight against an easy opponent in order to get some momentum going for an upcoming bigger fight? That's what that fight was.

At Superior FC 13 TUF 13 vet Nordin Asrih got knocked out by 15-20 Cengiz Dana. His plans of getting into the UFC have been derailed pretty badly.

A funny scene happened at the same event. There was a heavyweight title fight, scheduled for five rounds. After three rounds all three judges handed in their scorecards and the ring announcer announced the winner. Then madness ensued. Of course the loser and his camp protested because the fight was supposed to go five rounds instead of three. The judges fucked up big time and the promoter was very embarassed. That's just one of the many examples of how unprofessional the German MMA scene still is.

Germany's Pascal Krauss (11-1) vs South Korea's Hyun Gyu Lim (11-3-1) at UFC 164 on August 31st. UFC 164 takes place in Milwaukee, Wiconsin, where Krauss has been living and training since November. Bout agreements are in place, Krauss already signed it. Waiting for Lim.

Great matchup for both of these guys. I of course have Krauss by unanimous decision or submission in the third.

While the most successful German UFC Fighter Dennis Siver lost to Cub Swanson at UFC 162, German fans watched the biggest fight card in the history of German MMA. The German MMA Championship held its fourth event in Herne. Excellent event with fantastic production.

UFC veteran Carlos Eduardo Rocha lost to Florent Betorangal, who's not even in the Top 25 in Europe.

German Bellator fighter Jonas Billstein trashed German MMA veteran Martin Zawada en route to a ref stoppage in round three.

Former M-1 champion Rafal Moks from Poland snatched Abus Magomedov's welterweight title away with a quick Guillotine.

Andreas Kraniotakes, Germany's no. 1 heavyweight, won the vacant heavyweight title with a kimura submission over Austria's Dritan Barjamaj.

Unfortunately Livia von Plettenberg embarassed our little MMA scene tonight at Invicta FC 6 by weighing almost eight pounds over the weight limit and then refusing to cut more weight.

German UFC fighter Pascal Krauss has started a video blog series called "Panzervision". The first episode contains footage from a training trip to Brazil (including Anthony Pettis showtime-kicking a reporter) and the "Technique of the Week" with Bellator champion Ben Askren.

Here is the fight between former UFC champion Ricco Rodriguez and Germany's no. 1 heavyweight Andreas Kraniotakes from the recent Cage Fight Series event in Austria. Watch it if you have trouble sleeping.

Second Panzervision video blog by German UFC fighter Pascal Krauss. Funny cameo by a drunk (?) Ben Askren.

Unfortunately Sheila Gaff suffered her second horrible TKO loss in her second UFC fight. Might be the first female fighter to get cut by the UFC.
