I was thinking that hypothetically what would happen if Hulk who already has anger issues, found a Red Lantern ring? Seeing as the ring is fueled by rage, and it gives Hulk many of the powers that stop him from being a god, where would he rank in the DC universe?

Could he trash Superman? Superboy-Prime? Imperiex?

Atrocitus, a member of the Empire of Tears on the prison planet Ysmault, forges the first Red Power Battery from the innards of Qull, the being who tells Abin Sur the prophecy of "the Blackest Night".[30] Red power rings are powered by rage, feed on the rage of their users and anyone nearby, and are charged by the blood of those the user kills.[30][32] Unlike Green Lantern rings, which provide a helpful commentary to their user, red rings are depicted as constantly emitting violent commands ("Kill," "Rage," "Pain," "Hatred," etc.), driving their wearers insane with rage and reducing them to little more than snarling beasts.[30] The rings, however, seek out beings with great rage.[37]

A user's red ring functionally replaces the user's heart, tainting their blood with red energy, and forces it out of their body through their mouth as a highly corrosive substance. The red ring's energy is also capable of corrupting the energies of other power rings, keeping them from functioning properly.[30] The aura of a red ring is savage and rough in comparison to a green ring, but can be used similarly with sufficient focus, as Atrocitus demonstrates by creating a giant construct of Mera. Originally, a Blue Lanterns' energy was the only known power source capable of neutralizing the Red Lanterns' influences, and are also the only means of removing a red power ring from its user without killing them.[38] Mogo managed to purify Guy Gardner during the Blackest Night but as Guy has not been cured by a Blue Lantern, traces of the Red Rage remain. Also a Star Sapphire, working with a Red Lantern's true love, is capable of restoring a Red Lantern.[39]

PowersEdit
Red Energy Conduit: The rings use Red energy, supplied by a Red Power Battery, which in most cases takes the form of red light. A Red Lantern's ring has the ability to affect and use fundamental forces of the universe, including gravity, radiation, heat, light, and blasts of concussive force. The ring can also create force fields formed from energy was bound by the user's rage. The limitations of such use are the skill, knowledge and imagination of the user.

Rage Plasma: Red Lanterns can vomit plasma, which has been described as napalm and acid mixed together; it burns away at anything. These flames burn even in space. The effect it has on living beings allows it to ignite the flames of rage in a victim's blood and has the effect of burning through energy aura's of an opponent, as well as corrupting other power rings, depleting them at an accelerated rate and greatly weakening the structures they create. This plasma is also one of the only substances in the universe that can destroy a Black Lantern corpse faster than it can regenerate itself.

Energy Projection: The ring can be used to fire blasts of Rage energy. This power is unique, as it takes the form of rage-energized blood. The ring can project this blood as a blast that has the effect of a concussive blast with high destructive capability. The weapons power is more an indication of the Rage of the user, rather then their willpower.

Energy Constructs: The ring can form constructs of Rage energy. The primary function of the Power Ring is to provide a weapon capable of transforming the wearer's thoughts into physical constructs through the wearer's rage. A Red Lantern can create any particular items or construct that they can imagine as long as they have the appropriate amount of rage necessary to will it into existence. The constructs are made out of red energy, which is a tangible form of pure rage, and they exist only as long as a Red Lantern is fueling it with their rage. Items created by the rings are not indestructible and are only as powerful as the rage of the Red Lantern creating them. The types of constructs usually reflects the ring wearer's personality. However, most Red Lanterns are so consumed by rage that they cannot focus the willpower needed to bring constructs into existance. Atrocitus and Hal Jordan are the only ones seen so far to make energy constructs with a Red Power Ring.

Force-Field: The ring can create various forcefields of various sizes and shapes to protect the wearer and others around him or her. In space, a red ring creates a force-field around the wearer, protecting him/her/it from the hazards of the void, including filtration of stellar radiation and microscopic particulate matter which would ordinarily be fatal should the space debris strike the ring wielder at high speeds. An atmosphere appropriate to the ring wielder's biology is created inside the force-field, body temperature is maintained and waste products are removed. Gravitational stresses which could cause injury are stabilized for the ring wielder.

Flight: By the manipulation of anti-gravitons and directed molecular movement, the ring allows the user to fly at incredible speeds.

Rage Infection: The Red Power Ring is capable of infecting others with the rage of the Red Lantern, which can lead to them being converted to the the Red Lantern Cause.

Rage Empowerment: the Red Lantern ring is unique in that its base of power, Rage, can be manipulated by the ring user. A Red Lantern can detect the rage in the heart of others and by connection the blood that pumps that blood. The rage and hatred of a individual red lantern empowers their abilities as well as the rage and hatred of others.

Life Support: these power ring also allowed the host to survive a fatal removal of their user's heart, as they replaced it.

Security Protocol: The rings can be programmed. They are coded to the wearer to make them unusable if stolen.

WeaknessEdit
Life-Support Dependency: As the Red Power Ring assumes the functions of the heart, a Red Lantern cannot remove the their ring without risking death.

Uncontrollable Rage: Because red is on the farthest edges of the emotional spectrum, Red Lanterns are unable to think clearly or be reasoned with. They rarely speak, save for their leader Atrocitus, and often attack without distinction.

Hope: the Blue light of hope is seemingly the only power that can extinguish the red flame, it can also reverse the effects of the ring and free them.

Love: As it is the opposite of Rage, the Red Power Ring's connection to the weilder will be severed and they will die, if they feel Love or made to feel it.

Recharge Protocol: Formerly, the Rings needed to be charged after a period of 24 hours, regardless of how often it was used.

My biggest question would be how would the ring affect him. Would he control the ring, or would it control him?

Hulk on his own is a smarter Doomsday and would smash until nothing was left to smash. But having a power ring would level the playing field in a ton of ways.

Red solar energy=Hulk smash supes
Red Kryptonite=Hulk smash supes some more etc.

Yeah the Red Lanterns are new to the scene. They added them so they could do the darkest night story arc. I only expect a hardcore GL fan to be able to answer this.

It just seemed to me to be the kind of thing DC would do. They tend to overpower characters and then have to have something exceptionally crazy to reset the clock.

But the hell with that. Hulk gets a hold of that ring, he is kicking untold amounts of ass.

No he wouldn't. He isn't any angrier than anyone else. He is already powered by rage. It would be redundant like Juggernaut's force field. Plus hulk is too dumb to figure out what to do with it. It would just be red fists flying around, with less power than his normal fists. Phone Post

Those red fists should have much more power than his regular fists, since his regular fists only hit 10x harder than a normal guy's due to being limited by Hulk's average physical speed.

Mindless Savage Hulk was always a smashing machine, but not as dangerous as the Hulk who could think and come up with strategies.  Even the classic green "dumb" Hulk had a cunning and would notice weaknesses in opponents that he exploited.  Red ring adds powers, but takes away his ability to think which gives opponents something to exploit.  The Avengers often fought mindless savage Hulk to a draw or contained him somewhat, but had more problems when the Hulk could think, recognize their powers or what they were doing and use a variety of tactics against them.  And i'm not even talking about WW Hulk, jus tthe green one that would notice that golden hair man's hammer gives him power or fire-man burn hulk but water puts out fire.
