They came up with the idea back in the 90's, as late as 2005 Newt and other many republicans were still behind it? Even Rush was behind it as late around 2004/2005.

Is it the implementation they do not support ; would they implement it some other way? Do you just not like it because Obama championed it?

I do not have a strong opinion either way on it, however my friend who is a strong republican and I know he was pushing for an individual mandate in the early 2000's and is now 100% against "Obama care" ; but just gets really mad when I ask him why he changed his mind on it and can not really explain why is was for it then suddenly changed his mind.
