pretty sure its not a pullup if the top of your head doesn't even reach the bar. still, its impressive endurance for a guy that big to do that many semi-pullups.

fucking hell i thought i was good at pullups i could barely do 3. my 25lb weights kept swinging back and forth after lowering myself. no, no vid of the embarrassing moment.

I greatly overestimated my ability. I quit doing dips 2 months ago because of shoulder pain leading up to my competition. I tried Sunday and all I got was 8 good reps...not even worth posting a video...Im a failure at life....

Question for pull-up Masters...

I do 3 sets of bodyweight pull-ups each time I work out. Some days overhand, some days underhand. I go to exhaustion (with the last one or two kipping a little). Overhand usually 15, 14 and 13/12 reps, and underhand 18, 17, 16/15. I've been stagnant now with not being able to do more reps for about the past 3 months. What would be better...start doing weighted pull-ups in the 10 to 12 rep range (or whatever is recommended) or keep doing body weight and just push through the stagnation? THanks.

Weighted. For 4-6 reps. Up to 8 would probably be ok if you want to go higher.

Welcome to the wall. You hit it at exactly the usual spot. Its a good thing though because it teaches a lesson about exercise: working only at the intensity you're looking for isn't always the best way to train.

To get to 20 plus reps in a set requires more strength, but once you get into the teens the exercise itself is no longer good at developing strength. Eventually you get to the point where gains in endurance aren't enough and you hit a wall.

Leighs got the right answer of course. Add weight, but do both if bodyweight rep numbers are important to you so you don't lose endurance. And ditch the training to failure.
