What's your view on hex bars/trap bars

Is it a straight deadlift alternative or somewhere in between a DL and a squat? Phone Post

Awesome.

I do squat shrugs with them.

I find back squats just don't feel right for me so I use front squats deadlifts and hex bar squats Phone Post

Mine has just arrived

Do I use the same technique as DL's? Phone Post

You can bend at the hips and use more hamstrings like a traditional olympic bar deadlift, or bend at the knees and use more quads and that makes it into more of a squatting motion.

The Trap Bar/Hex Bar is more of a Squat replacement than a Deadlift replacement, IMHO.

Great bit of kit though.

And they seem to be a lot safer when doing a jumping movement than a bar.

I do most of my DL-ing with the Hex bar these days. I am not a power lifter so I don't worry about needing the specific technique of using the straight bar.
