The arguement that Anderson doesn't make Aa much money than Kobe is laughable and completely invalid.

But for shits and giggles.

Anderson pulls in what 3mill a fight? Something like that?

What's Kobe make per game? Phone Post

I don't doubt that AS is more popular than Kobe in maybe that small little area of Brazil that he's from, but in the whole country...no way.

Look I have brazilian friends that are outside of the coastal cities, basically the whole interior of Brazil barely knows that a UFC nor BJJ exists. It's all soccer, soccer, soccer. I have no idea where they get these figures from but it is bogus. MMA is still a fringe sport in most of the world.

Sure some hipper younger guys may know of it, but in general it really is soccer....

pm1964 - I think people are way underestimating the overall popularity of basketball around the world. The overwhelming majority of people have never heard of mma at all, much less Silva. I hate basketball, but you have to be realistic.

Yeah and in Brasil the NBA is shit. You are loking at things too much throught the eyes of an American.  Basketball and football may be huge in the US but in Brasil, it's about as popular as water polo is here.

JeffersonDArcyChoke -  Jon Jones has a Nike deal.

The difference between Jon's Nike deal and any NBA player's Nike deal?

It's like comparing the wages of a sweatshop worker stitching Nike shoes versus an American factory worker backed by a union.

Same definitely goes for Kobe Bryant versus Anderson Silva.

But that is ok because it's the way it should be.

It's not a slight to suggest Bryant is the bigger star.

The NBA serves a larger audience and as such it's biggest stars will make the UFC's biggest stars seem less than. Phone Post

you are 100% wrong. The NBA does not serve a larger audience. Maybe in the US alone they do, but the UFC is shown globally and it's overall numbers blows away the NBA.

There were repeats of UFC unleashed that drew bigger ratings in the US than live NBA playoff games.
