Tomato Can - Makes the LMW division a little more interesting. Clottey is always willing to travel while Mundine never was. We could see Clottey/Andrade, Clottey/Molina, Clottey/Smith, etc.

Mundine was keen to make a name in the US and willing to travel and actually did early in his career, but then he (claims to be Muslim)came out with the disgusting statement about the US "Bringing 911 onto themselves" and that effectively killed any chance of a career in the US.

Although his dad never won a world title, he was a real fighter.

Mundine was a gifted athlete with a big mouth. But he never was a fighter.

I remember the hype Mundine had behind him when he first turned pro and a year later he was getting flattened by Sven Ottke. It's hard to believe the guy was a 3 time world champion considering he never really beat anyone of significance.

Canelo Broke From Televisa Over Blame For Death

By Rene Umanzor

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (43-1-1, 31KOs) caused a serious stir in Mexico after announcing that his next fight, on July 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, would not be carried by Mexican network Televisa.

Canelo has been the network's star fighter for several years, but a serious allegation has led him to walk away - at least for the moment.

According to Canelo's trainer Jose 'Chepo' Reynoso, a magazine [Tv y Novelas] under the Televisa banner wrote an article a few weeks ago - where it blamed Canelo for the death of former world champion Javier "Chatito" Jáuregui.

Last December, the 40-year-old Jauregui suffered a serious stroke and died a day later at a hospital in Guadalajara.

The article made allegations that Canelo, despite Jauregui's health issues, was using the veteran for sparring to prepare for his ring return on March 8th, which came against Alfredo Angulo. Not only did the article claim that Canelo was using him for sparring, it claimed that Canelo held nothing back and gave Jauregui bad beatings during the sessions.

Canelo was furious with the article, as Jauregui was a close friend of the entire team. He was even more furious that Televisa would stand behind such an article.

"Saul is highly resentful because of some things that were said and Televisa did not protect him. A magazine published some things that are not true, and that magazine has the seal of Televisa, and that caused unrest across the team," Reynoso said.

"They reported that Jáuregui had died from a beating by Canelo and that is something terrible because you are accusing him of something that is not true. He was not a part of [Canelo's] sparring for this camp [for the March fight with Angulo]. We had other guys. [They didn't even bother] to investigate [the information] and that affected the whole team."

Arum Slams MGM Grand, Mayweather, More

By Rick Reeno

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - The final press conference for the Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley HBO Pay-Per-View rematch, taking place this Saturday night at the MGM, was moving along at a friendly pace.

But, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum closed the press conference with a huge verbal bang.

Arum has been upset with the MGM's promotion of Saturday's rematch. During the week, Arum voiced his anger to several reporters - regarding the venue's heavy display of promotional items related to the upcoming Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Marcos Maidana Showtime Pay-Per-View on May 3rd.

During the end of the press conference, with a stunned Richard Sturm [President of MGM Grand Entertainment] sitting right beside the podium, Arum unleashed his fury.

"I'm not going to say it....the hell with it - I know the Venetian would never make a mistake like this, they knew what fight was scheduled in three or four days and they wouldn't have a 12-1 fight all over the building that's going to take place in three weeks from next Saturday. That's why one company makes a billion dollars a quarter and the other hustles to pay it's debt [referring to the MGM]. There it is, say it like it is," Arum said to a stunned crowd.

A moment earlier, Arum was talking to Bradley near the podium and said - "Why don't you ask the guy who's picture is all over the building on when he's going to fight somebody real." - taking direct a jab at Mayweather. Bradley laughed a replied - "I'll let you ask him that."

Speaking to BoxingScene earlier in the day, Arum stated - "How many more 10-1 fights can the MGM sell to people? [Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard] Schaefer can say whatever he wants about the fights, but all you have to do is go and look at the odds at the Race & Sportsbook to see it's not a competitive fight."

Cotto-Martinez: Marvin Sonsona-Wilfredo Vazquez II Set

By Rick Reeno

Promoter and international matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz had advised BoxingScene.com that Marvin Sonsona (18-1-1, 15KOs) will face Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (23-3-1, 19KOs) in a rematch for the NABF featherweight title on June 7th in New York's Madison Square Garden. The fight will be part of the Miguel Cotto-Sergio Martinez HBO Pay-Per-View undercard.

In 2010, Vazquez handed Sonsona the first loss of his career with a fourth round knockout when they battled for the WBO super bantamweight title in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Sonsona has won four straight since and Vazquez, who recently signed with Miguel Cotto Promotions, is 3-3 in his last six.

KJ! - Am I the only one that hates when fighters use "foot work" but it's literally running around the ring? I just rewatched the Ruslan fight and Marquez fight against Bradley... That shit just annoys me am I the only one?

Round 6 7 8 that's all Bradley did was run around threw maybe 15
Punches
Mayweather does it too but he does it with speed in his hands so it's a bit different... Phone Post 3.0
What are you talking about? Bradley is super active and dominated Marquez and showed amazing heart in the other fight. Phone Post 3.0

I'll give Bradley props for the Marquez and Ruslan fight, but Manny definitely beat him. I'm admittedly a Pacquiao nut hugger, but I can't wait for Pacquiao to smash him this weekend. I'd feel a whole lot better if he put Bradley away though.

I'm so stoked for this fight. Phone Post 3.0

Manny is not a young man. He's 35 years old and this will be his 63rd fight. I could see Bradley taking 7 rounds legit this time.

Age does not count for a lot. Just take a look at Ring's P4P rankings and there are more guys 35 and over than under it...

Pacman for me. And I might put my hard earned on inside the distance.

" Marques game plan was complete shit."

I saw a Marquez who, compared to his prior bout, looked, slower, less muscular & a man of 40 years old who couldn't pull the trigger. Coincidentally, Bradley insisted on random PED testing. I'm sure one had nothing to do with the other though. Phone Post 3.0

Marquez is the one guy I'm just about 100% sure has been a huge PED user. It is just unheard of for a lower-weight fighter like him to not only maintain elite status into his late 30s but actually seem to PEAK at that age. I just don't believe that JMM has something magical (and non-pharmaceutical) that Henry Armstrong, Sugar Ray Leonard, Oscar De La Hoya, Kid Gavilan, and Julio Cesar Chavez were all lacking that made them decline in their 30s.

People don't want to hear it, but it's true. You don't put on that kind of lean muscle mass as a 35 year old mexican man.

Seriously. Barrera peaked in his late 20s. Morales peaked in his late 20s. Wilfredo Gomez peaked in his late 20s. Naseem Hamed peaked in his mid-20s. Hell, even Manny seems to have peaked around age 30 (when he wrecked Cotto and Hatton).

Yet you're gonna tell me that JMM just kept getting better and better until he was 39 years old? C'mon son.

I haven't really heard people (fans) dispute that Marquez used PEDs in the last couple of years. It seemed pretty obvious to me from his physical transformation after hooking up with the scientist guy.

With how much money is involved at the top level of boxing (all pro sports) I am not surprised when guys use.

On Saturday, June 14th, heavy-handed fan favorite, the “Siberian Rocky,” Ruslan Provodnikov, will make his return to the ring against Chris Algieri at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. The fight will headline an HBO Boxing After Dark broadcast.

Man HBO will let Top Rank put anything on these days. Algieri is a lame "prospect" with zero power and 1 win over a semi-decent fighter on ESPN2 with the rest of his wins over total bums. Only way he can win is by running around and stinking the joint out. How this qualifies as an HBO headliner is beyond me.

Cázares has only himself to blame for fucking up the count. Can't wait for the santa cruz fight when and where it happens.
