yes, both are just possibilities right now...Rigo said earlier he doesn't mind the Vada testing...and Schaeffer was saying Trout is a very, very, very dangerous opponent lol...but said he's going to work on getting a fight done for Canelo now that this Floyd deal is done.

Some other random thoughts.

Peter Quillen fights at Barclays April 27 against Fernando Guerrero. I'd really like to see his most recent opponent Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam (I had to cut and paste that name lol) get another shot on TV. He went down 6 times against Quillen and the fight looked like it was up for grabs still going into the 12th round. Judges didn't give him the rounds that he looked to have earned but nonetheless, probably the best showing ever for somebody who went down so many times.

K-9 is set to fight this weekend. I believe it's his first fight since getting away from Don King. He got fucked making small money and sitting on the shelves with King. When watching him on the contender I really didn't think K-9 would be relevant this many years later.

Price vs. Thompson HW fight on Wealth TV this weekend as well. big wow.

Leo Santa Cruz ditched his 118 IBF belt to go to 122. Who do you want to see him go against? Real exciting fighter who throws an insane number of punches, his last bout sort of exposed his lack of understanding how to cut off a ring but I'm a fan.

Leo vs Rigondeaux, who will probably lose to Donaire if the fight happens...a real good one would be with Anselmo Moreno or the IBF champ Johnathon Romero.

Price will run through Thompson

Art Hovhannisyan fights Friday Night on Shobox.

which most of us know already, Holt vs Peterson on FNF.

Quillin is pretty good, and I too had N'Jikam in the fight and if he won the 12th, I had him winning the fight.

According to sources in Mexico, there are serious issues with the lightweight unification between Ricky Burns (35-2, 10KOs) and Miguel Vazquez (33-3, 13KOs), scheduled to headline a very big show on March 16th at Wembley Arena in London. Reportedly Vazquez and his management never agreed to the financial terms of the fight. One source told BoxingScene.com that Vazquez's management had requested a certain purse figure for their boxer to travel over and fight Burns in the UK, but that number has yet to be met. With the date being less than a month away, some of the involved parties in Mexico believe the fight will fall apart.

Arum on Pacquiao-Marquez 5, Mayweather, More

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum’s planned dinner with Juan Manuel Marquez on Wednesday  to discuss a planned fifth  fight with Manny Pacquiao has been postponed until next week.

Arum told BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard they were originally scheduled to have dinner in San Diego but Marquez had “some obligations in Mexico this week so we changed it to next Tuesday.”

He said Marquez would be “coming into Las Vegas and we’ll go out for dinner and he will stay over and hopefully we can accomplish something.”

Arum earlier disclosed that he had met with Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz who is still in the US and that they “went over everything.”

He also maintained that a fifth fight “will not necessarily be held outside the United States” because of concerns expressed by the Pacquiao camp over the huge tax bite.

While he expressed confidence that “more money will be made fighting in the US” Arum indicated they would “run the numbers, take everything into account and see where the most money is for everybody” even ad he pointed out that there is a 20 to 39 percent tax but the difference for Manny is he gets credit for the US taxes against his Philippine taxes.”

He said that “if the economic differences are [only] a little then its obvious where he (Pacquiao) should fight.”

Asked about the chances of making a fifth fight between Pacquiao and Marquez, Arum told us “the prospects are very good especially since the Floyd Mayweather Jr. deal with Showtime. We can possibly have an extra bonus from HBO to make this fight (Pacquiao-Marquez) happen.”

While he didn’t indicate any amount, Arum revealed that Showtime “put up an incredible amount of money and would lose [money from the deal]” but that he believes HBO Sports “will come out to the plate [on Pacquiao[Marquez 5], that’s why I am enthused.”

Discussing Mayweather’s fight against Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero, Arum said “its going to be a fight and I think Guerrero has a helluva shot. I really believe that.”

Mares to Become WBC Mandatory to Ponce De Leon

Article Link - http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&opt=printable&id=62567#ixzz2LU2aP4MS
This is a legal waiver. By copying and using the material from this article, you agree to give full credit to BoxingScene.com or provide a link to the original article.

By Jose Luis Camarillo, notifight.com

According to World Boxing Council President Jose Sulaiman, former two division world champion Abner Mares (25-0-1, 13KOs) will become the mandatory challenger to WBC featherweight king Daniel Ponce De Leon (44-4, 35KOs).

Ponce was scheduled to face mandatory challenger Jayson Velez on March 2, but the Puerto Rican challenger withdrew with an injury and now the WBC is going to replace him, placing Mares in the mandatory position.

Making the fight should be no problem, since both boxers are under contract to the same promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, and share the same manager in Frank Espinoza.

Mares vacated his WBC super bantamweight title to move up in weight to 126. Sulaiman explained that under the WBC regulations -" a fighter giving up his title to move up in weight, he becomes the mandatory challenger [to the WBC title at the new weight]."

"It would be great to see a fight between Ponce and Mares," said Sulaiman.

Ponce would likely have to face Jhonny Gonzalez in a rematch. Last year Ponce decisioned Gonzalez to win the WBC title. The former champion, however, has a rematch clause.

Ponce said: "We're waiting for my next opponent. I do not know yet who [my next fight] will be against. Whoever it is, I do not care. [Mares and Gonzalez] are both good."

Trout: Canelo Fight Will Happen, Near Done Deal

Article Link - http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&opt=printable&id=62568#ixzz2LU3N2NAT

By Luis Sandoval

While Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Robert Guerrero was officially announced for May 4th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the co-main event which is supposed to be  a junior middleweight unification between undefeated champions Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (41-0-1, 30KOs) and Austin Trout (26-0, 14KOs) - has not been finalized. On Tuesday, Rick Reeno spoke to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer , who revealed that they are still looking at several names and while Trout is one of them, nothing has been officially finalized.

A few days ago Alvarez himself took to Twitter and announced his fight with Trout would be taking place on May 4th - but it now appears the deal is not fully done. Trout appeared on the most recent edition of BoxingScene's official radio show - "The Boxing Lab" and said while the fight isn't official, it's pretty much a done deal at this point.

"It looks like it's a go. I know [Richard] Schaefer jumped up and has been saying something like 'it's not a done deal, blah blah blah' - but it looks like it's a done deal. Me and Canelo is something that should happen. Something that is good for boxing," Trout would tell The Boxing Lab.

"Canelo says he wants it and you guys know where I've stood on this. You know where I stand and now Canelo [has] stepped up and made his desires known to his people. And I got to give a shout out to him for really pushing for the fight. I know he's been putting pressure on [Oscar] De La Hoya and them to make this happen. Good job Canelo for speaking up and taking charge like a man."

Trout has been asking for a shot at Alvarez for a while now and with Alvarez now requesting Trout to be his opponent, he may just get his wish. While Golden Boy may say they are still considering with other names, Trout feels they may not have a choice and will need to make the fight happen due to the influence of his advisor Al Haymon and the boxing public.

"I think Al [Haymon] definitely has a lot of influence. Ultimately Schaefer and Canelo's team can say yay or nay. But I think with the influence of Al, the pressure of the public and now the pressure of Canelo, I think it's getting to where they have no choice," said Trout.

Pairing up this fight with Mayweather-Guerrero would indeed be huge and would create arguably the biggest boxing card of the year. While Trout patiently waits to get final confirmation on the fight, he shares that he's ready to take on Canelo and put on a great show.

"He's good. He's definitely the real deal. I'm excited to take the cinnamon challenge. I've been sitting here taking teaspoons of cinnamon, no water, nothing! Just swallowing it. So I'm ready to take the cinnamon challenge May 4th. I've been practicing. I'll tell you one thing, its going to be a darn good fight. We have two undefeated champions. Im not losing and I'm sure he has the same mindset so let's see who gets carried out. Who gets carried out with their hand up and who gets carried out on a stretcher," said Trout.

Damn, this kid can really be a star one day.  He's got that shoulder rolling, Philly Shell defense of Mayweather but punches like Pacquiao.

Those are solid numbers, especially for premium cable.
