Jason Reinhardt - I've always placed loyalty above all. And i must say, i like to see such strong loyalty with Cesar's team. I've always admired it. Especially in this day and age with mma.."there seems to be no frikin loyalty anymore" Growing up in the traditional martial arts as a young child, you wouldn't even have thought about even going to another Academy to practice. (not too mention, training a fighter where the potential is there for him to fight his own team-mate. For what? Money? Well, sorry, you can't place a price-tag on strong friendships. (especially, when they are very hard to find! This is why i've always loved Cesar Gracie Juijitsu's camp. Cesar has it right and seems to run a tight ship. I love that. Personally for me, this is how i feel. To each his own though. $$ isn't everything!

This. MMA is a dirty business and loyality is rare.

Someones butt is hurting a little to much right now, and they need to calm down. Its not even like Condit and Diaz are GIANT FUCKING RIVALS either. They just had one fight that alot of people are butthurt over, and i guess mr gracie is one of them. Phone Post

Johnny Ringo -  I support Cesar 100% on this. Loyalty is lost on most MMA "teams" now. But Loyalty is everything at Cesar's.

It's one thing in you train at Extreme Couture or some super gym like that and you leave or do something like this bc there are scores of coaches and guy fighting from there who most likely don't even train with everyone or even get coached by each coach. It's more of a business relationship and that's that.

At Cesar's they are a right knit group an they bleed for each other day in and day out. Cesar gives everything he has to his fighters and they in turn hive that to their teammates and only expect loyalty and respect.

It's the old way and IMHO and it's the right way, especially for a smaller gym who has, by the true definition of the word, a TEAM.

Anyone who goes into that camp and expects to not be held accountable and loyal is either and idiot or has a huge ego and thinks the rules won't apply to them. Phone Post

Great fucking post.  VTFU

It's kind of funny that almost everyone negative toward Cesar on here can't spell his fuckng name.  You can say you were just trolling, but we all know you're really just stupid.

We probably just don't care enough about him to note how he spells his name. It's probably not even his real name anyway.

I rest my case, your honour.

David, ya i know. it's sucks. Loyalty is something which should be held above all when it comes to running an Academy and developing a team. Without Loyalty, you have basic a bunch of shallow minded people running around kicking and punching. I speak from experience...i see guys where all they are concerned about is me me me, and fuck everyone else. The word "TEAM" should have a very strong meaning to it! Because when all the smoke clears and all the fighting is over (because you can't fight forever), then what do you have if you haven't been Loyal to your team and friends? One will find themselves Alone in this unforgiving world of fighting.

Cesar appears to want loyalty from his students but apparently has no problem turning on people.  Have you seen Dan Black post on these threads?  Said he was with Cesar for 14 years and was kicked out for no reason and basically that loyalty is a joke when it comes to Cesar.  I imagine he'd know more than us.

Because we all know that everyone posts the truth on the net. In that case, I have a 600lb bench, run a 4.2 40, have 14 inch cock and bang pornstars every night.....

I don't know Cesar personally. I just watch and observe just like all of you. And it's always seemed to me Cesar and his team are very very tight and Loyalty is placed in high regard. As far as this guy Caio...I'm sure he's a great guy, or Cesar wouldn't have invited him to teach for his team in the first place. right? So, i am just giving my opinion on Loyalty. I am not bashing Caio. This would not be fair of me, since i do not know the man. Caio probably knew this would upset Cesar. So, perhaps he was planning on leaving anyway. who knows.

David H. thanks, but i'm just a normal dude. Far far from perfect. I'm just a guy who still carries on my sleeve, the traditional values and etique (sp), in martial arts when it comes to stepping onto the mat or in the Academy. I've always said MMA could learn a lot about how the traditonal martial art systems operate and after so many decades and decades, they still carry to this day the teachings of what being a true martial artist is all about. the kicking, punching, choking ect..is such a small, small part of it.

lilbrock, i agree man. that's why i said i'm sure Terra is a good guy or Cesar wouldn't have hired him in the first place. But, if he did do what Cesar says, I get it, and i relate well with Cesar's thinking behind the matter. Remember, this is basically WAR with no GUNS. Do our soldiers cross lines in the field and go train with the enemy? Shit, the way people are these days, that wouldn't even surprise me. (especially when stupid money is involved)

Brother, you really said a mouthful.

When all the shit goes down and I have a group of people that have my back and I have theirs thick and thin, your printed pieces of paper won't mean jack shit, except maybe for kindling.

Everything is all about $$$ and that's fucked.  Tons of things are more important.

Terra isn't a student of his correct?

He has his own gym, his own accomplishments and didn't get his BB from Cesar.

He is just an affilate school? I think Terra's resume speaks for itself.

  • World Black Belt Champion (2008);
  • 5x World No Gi Champion (2009, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012)

  • 4x Mundials Silver Medallist (World Championships – 2011, 2010, 2009, 2005 blue belt)
  • Pan American Gold Medal (2011)
  • Pan American Silver Medal (2010)

Either way, I think it is a chicken shit way of Cesar to handle his business.

It was no secret Terra was with Condit (Has been for a few weeks) Cesar waits until NOW to say something?

Cesar posts online that he better keep his ass away from them in a threatening tone. Professional....

While Caio may look like a little girl.....Cesar does a pretty good job of acting like one.

WWETopTeam - I wouldn't comment because I don't know what was expected of Caio regarding coaching elsewhere etc...

But I do not like airing the dirty laundry on Twitter ! Goodness show some restraint! He lowers both caio's and his own reputation with stuff like that getting out. Noone will say , "Oh, this makes Cesar look better etc "

Damm, handle this like other student-coaches did in the old days in the dojo. I would expect more from the guy who fearlessly locked himself into a cage with a prime Frank Shamrock and didnt even think about a takedown!

I never thought I would vote this guy up, but VTFU

lilbrock, you make some interesting points. I guess what i am trying to say, is i hate to see teams break up and split.
I hated to see it with MFS. i guess nothing great last forever anymore. Lack of communication can be attributed to much of this, when things like this happen. Communication and just coming out talking things out can avoid all of the bullshit.

I hear ya and I like your way of the old school thinking with regards to martial arts.  However, when the potential for millions of dollars is involved things change and I realize you've addressed that a few times.

Nick Diaz and Condit fought and there was a controversial decision but it wasn't Condit's fault.  Nick and Cesar should be mad at the judges if anything., not Carlos Greg Jackson isn't a part of the AC that suspended Nick for his failed drug test.   It's not like there is a big rivalry between Condit and Nick or Cesar's camp and Team Jackson.  Now if Terra would have went and helped Condit for the Diaz fight, I would understand the issue.  He helped him for a rival of Nick Diaz.  You'd think Nick/Cesar would want GSP to lose.

Now back to the money issue, I understand why Terra would want to go out and find other clients/ fighters to train.  Half of Cesars top guys are suspended for failed drug tests, Melendez is out, and Nate is fighting but that's it.

What if there's a rematch??

It's been discussed...and as with many controversial decisions a second or even third match could take place! Phone Post
