In his post fight interview with Joe, Hendricks said that combo "Came to him in a dream"

looking at it closely his right hook knocks Kampmann's guard out of the way before he throws the straight left...

do we think this was the intention of the right hook? solely to open up the guard to land the left power shot? or was it just fortunate that it ended up that way?

great KO none the less

i saw a combo anderson was hitting on the pads, started working on it like a week or 2 before a fight. landed it for the ko...

i think it was to setup the powerful straight left. close the distance, and boom.
plus it could look like a setup for a takedown too. but yeah, weird things like that happen.
Hendricks seems like a good guy, glad to see him get the win.
will be interesting to see what comes from that ko power down the road.

Sippy Cuppy - I saw very little boxing skills will that combo.

Power, yes

Skill. no

You know what

Even though its a rude thing to say it like that, i agree.

It blows my mind how much power he has when he knocks top guys out with that punching technique.

Its scary. If he can do that to kampmann and fitch, he definately.could do it to gsp.
Hope he gets the next shot. Phone Post

That KO was like something out of a video game. That last diving punch he drove into Kampmann had some epic style points.

Definitely a contender for KO of the year

my main question is, do you think he "Intentionally" cleared the path with his right hook so he had a clean target with the left, or was that just luck?? otherwise the combo was nothing out of the ordinary.. but the fact he said he had been working on it, sort of suggests it was a special set up??

im not sure i buy that? but i could be wrong

All punches are designed to clear the path if blocked.

Not a special setup, just a combination he's drilled in practice.
Then he implemented it during the fight, and it gave him the KO.

Like say if you go to a gym, and practice any ten combos you'll notice a few of them have more power than the others.
Obviously the right hook, straight left is a quick powerful combo for him and it gave him the win.

the right hook was not "blocked" or was it aimed at the head (at least it was no where near it) it was thrown very low and directly at the arm?

hence the question

I believe clearing the hands was the intent of the lead.  Its called hand trapping.
