I don't think there's anyway GSP beats Silva. But Rashad would. That's a fight I would like to see.

Taking Silva down means nothing. Anderson has been taken down multiple times in the Ufc and yet has never lost in the Ufc. In fact Everyone who took Anderson down was finished. So maybe Gsp shouldn't try to take him down.. Phone Post

nice logic.  and how many people did silva beat purely in standup? guess he shouldn't do that too then.  oh well, no ground, no standup.  fights off!  tactically you have to pretend the first chael fight was a loss for silva because silva only won due to chael giving it to him.  it wasn't anything close to a slick submission and most whitebelts would have felt the triangle being set up.  that is the blueprint to beat andy.  u can't look at that fight and disregard the 100 things chael did right just because andy accepted the gift chael handed him

would love to see you as gsp's new coach:  "looks georges, you're the best pure mma wrestler in the world.  here's the plan.  stand up and BOX him! yeah yeah and do those kick things too! he'll never expect that!  that's right, now go out there and kick his ass!

KingofBJJ - What the hell is Rashad "porn start" Evans talking about? Silva has the second best takedown defense in the UFC.

Bonner couldn't take him down. Sonnen was only able to take him down once. Okami couldn't take him down.

I just don't these fights supporting his argument.

sonnen took him down in 6 rounds consecutively.

lol.  with most posters i'd have said u got trolled but in this case the dude's just retarded

thus far, the main arguments against this fight are that anderson is closer in size to silva than gsp, even though it is a FACT he is not, and that no one takes silva down, except the FACT that he was taken down in 6 of the last 7 rounds he has fought.

GSP needs to work on his striking some more to survive Anderson and even get some strikes in and keep him on his toes.

GSP will take Anderson down at will and should be able to nullify him there.

" one thing with Anderson is that he has such a problem with defending the takedown."

Didn't they say Anderson has the second-highest takedown defense rate in the UFC?

In fairness silva has fought a lot of bjj guys with mediocre takedowns, which may be inflating those stats. Seeing as how gsp has fought some of the best wrestlers in mma and taken them down pretty much at will, you would think he will take down Anderson. Minimal chance he finishes him tho. The question is will he get caught on the way in. I'd say it's 50/50 Phone Post

I think GSP would probably get him down, I'm just disagreeing that Anderson gets taken down "effortlessly". Even in the first fight Chael went 4 for 7 and in the second he was like 1 for 8 or something ridiculous.

Maia has great takedowns, Vitor took down Tito, Marquardt and Okami are strong wrestlers as well. Henderson is hit or miss but he took down Rampage more easily than Jon Jones did, and Rampage was a hell of a lot more motivated and in shape then, too.

Oh yeah I agree it would not be effortless. In reality nobody really knows what would happen in this fight. Gsp has never fought someone with the striking of silva, while silva has never fought anyone as well rounded as gsp. Which is what makes it such an awesome fight. Phone Post

I think Marquardt is at least as well-rounded as GSP if not more so (I think he has more varied and more powerful standup, if not as clean, and better submissions). Not as good a wrestler though, of course.

Rashad got into my stash and smoked too big a nug!

That jab will not work on anderson.

Anderson is just too accurate and even more precise than hes ever been.

1 shot is all he needs.

Gsp vs hendricks! Phone Post

WWETopTeam - GSP's Kyokoshin gives him the edge in this fight. He has a karate and bjj blackbelt while silva has a bjj and capoeira and tae kwon do blackbelt. GSP is the better wrestler and he is the strongest fighter. Anderson is skinny and weaker than GSP who has muscles all over his body. GSP's legs are bigger. How can Anderson win the fight? GSP would beat up Anderson due to size alone.
Wow....^^...I have no words... Phone Post

GSP is absolutely the most well rounded fighter and does not make many mistakes. The fighter to beat him is an unorthodox player who got tricks and will catch him by suprise. A.Silva is the man for the job but GSP is the favorite in this matchup if you ask me. They are both each others cryptonites tho. Phone Post

Ah I'd have to disagree, Nate certainly has more varied stand-up, but his footwork is nowhere near as good, and he is not as good defensively either. And he might have better submissions but gsp's overall ground game is superior.( better passing, better control) and the thing that really sets gsp apart of course is his transitions. Nobody does a better job of flowing between the different disciplines than gsp. Making his total mma game far greater than the sum of it's parts. Phone Post

Entreri - Rashad knows how incredible GSP's wrestling abilities are. If he can hold down LHW's, he can hold Silva down.

The only thing left is Silva's amazing striking. GSP will have to prepare extensively for that. GSP has the speed and athleticism to survive Silva's striking.
Condit is a sloppy striker and he couldn't avoid those strikes !!!! AS will make Gsp knock his self out !!!! Phone Post

Condit won 1 round because of a kick, where are all of these shots that GSP couldn't avoid? I'll grab a snickers
Exactly. A lot of the damage to GSP's face came from Condit's strikes from the bottom. Phone Post

bhealthy - some spider fans will slam hashad for his observations, but they are not as ridiculous as his mustache. gsp has a better chance of beating anderson than he does of beating marquart.
LOL

I stopped reading this thread after this.

I know there's probably some intelligent discussion, but damn. GSP beats Marquardt worse than Sonnen did. Phone Post

I a huge GSP fan and I do believe that he would be able to get Anderson down a few times...especially since it has often been said that he has owned several 205ers in training wrestling. There was one training camp where an anonymous source said GSP was dominating Rashad on the mat.

However, and I hate to say it, I think Anderson absolutely destroys him. No way it goes past 2 rounds. Phone Post
