I can see why some would be bothered by the Lance Bass joke. It does imply promiscuity, which is a gay stereotype. For example, think of a bjj guy who's good off his back. And Joe Rogan says something to the effect of, "Minotauro has finished the guy on top of him more times than... (insert woman's name)". Would he say Mother Teresa? No. He'd name a woman who has a reputation of being a whore e.g. Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian.

And as far as the fat comment, I think he was just a guy thinking out loud. I mean it's not exactly easy to just talk and talk for hours at a time without saying some silly shit. I think he should have just left it at that, rather than offering justification i.e. fighter safety. I mean it's not like he used a racial slur.

Saying Mother Teresa in that instance actually would be funnier, though.

Rogan hates fat people.

Just watch a professional Rugby match and I bet there will be a few heavy dudes that Rogan would consider fat, yet who are quite fast - sure they cant run forever, but for short distances they will get from point A to B damn fast. They train to be explosive. Sure this ref probably cant do it, but generalising like that is harsh.

The ref is never too far imo and most will fail to stop a fight because they are stupid and not related to physical condition. We have seen it before.

Iskalainen -
thebasher - I personally don't like seeing fat people on the TV, even the guy posting his picture on here makes me a little nauseous. I think Joe was entitled to make the comment because the safety of the fighters is paramount

I can't work out if this is sarcasm or not. I want the first bit to be.
I think fat people are disgusting, who the fuck is anyone to say I can't feel that way or that's it's wrong to think that? Slobs are disgusting, that's my opinion, fat lazy sloth-like slobs. Phone Post

The butt hurt is strong in this thread. Y'all must have been hanging around Lance Bass too much.

Oh no, another gay joke! I hope people don't vastly overreact to this. Phone Post

this forum is filled with so many self-loathing repressed gays it would turn into the castro district at the drop of an ecstasy tablet.

Keep telling yourself you're straight after every time you make fun of "them" for being gay while pretending you watch mma for the fighting and not that it's the most homoerotic of all sports outside of full on gay porn.

Being edgy and pushing that line is part of your job if you are a comedian. Seriously. And if everyone was PC all the time the world would be a dull place.

Its funny that the guy critizing men's figures is also making gay references. Joe Rogan ain't got time for a flabby man.

Disappointed to hear Joe all apologetic, humble and PC and shit. I like the old Joe. Old Joe was a defender of freedom of speech and didn't give a flying monkey turd about what anyone thought. Guess that's what comes with the Fox deal. Mediacentricity. Phone Post

What upsets me, is that this man has said SO many POSITIVE things- and the one time he has a bit of an off-night, he gets swarmed for it.

We've all made mistakes. We have all said shit we didn't mean in the heat of a moment. It's pretty human; and Joe Rogan is an exceptional human being. Two silly comments made by him while doing commentary isn't gonna change that- at least not in my opinion.

Listening to Joe Rogan changed my life. I owe a lot to the fact that I chose to take heed to many positive things he's said. He made sense, and taking his advice turned me into a completely different person. And if you asked the people closest to me they'd say that's a good thing. Listening to Joe changed my frame of mind and helped me to better myself- spiritually, emotionally, physically, and basically in every other aspect of my life- Joe has taught me things that I am forever grateful for.

I dunno, just my opinion; but I just don't feel right passing judgement on a guy whose words have made such a direct impact on my life in the most positive of ways, for a couple passive comments made on one show. But, I do understand people taking offense to it. I just feel that, if you weigh those comments out up against all the positive things he's said over the years, it doesn't even come close. At the end of the day, I hope Joe is remembered for being intelligent, funny, and inspiring. Phone Post

Regardless of what joe says about his own comedic attempts.. he's still lame, somewhere about even with carlos mencia. I'm definitely not offended by his humor, but I doubt anyone over 14 years old really appreciates it.

He knows the sport, and has done some great commentary giving people insight into whats happening in the cage, but his wisecracks only take away from the action.. although I missed his brilliant lance bass comment altogether, the fat ref thing led me to believe maybe he had a grudge against the guy, and was happy to be totally unprofessional..

Now, if George Carlin or Mitch Hedberg were resurrected and happened to be looking for a color commentator position, I would love to hear their jokes on the side, but please, joe, give it up.

I'd expect to hear Joe say something like that if he was doing his standup, but I don't want to hear him do a lame shout out joke that his dumb friend tweeted to him during the broadcast.

I'm actually surprised Joe even said it since he is a comedy cop busting people for stealing others jokes, because I first heard a version of it only it was Ron Jeremy instead of Lance Bass.

I wasn't offended by what he said, but there is a time and place for everything and that wasn't it in my opinion.

I think Joes opinion on referees weight in MMA should have stayed out of his commentary. He's suppose to be commenting on the fight, the referee is suppose to be invisible until his judgement is needed. That being said, I did laugh at his insensitive remark about a dude who could be trained in jiu-jitsu and a wrestling champion for all we know. I think Joes reasoning was cringeworthy and ignorant because he doesn't know the guy whatsoever and can't accurately comment on his strength, speed or reaction time. He should have just said 'yeah, was trying to make an off the cuff joke and it was a little insensitive, won't do that again' instead of an ignorant logic that I don't expect from a highly intelligent and observant dude like Rogan.

TheMentalisT - Rogan shouldn't have to explain shit. he wasn't on a familt network at a normal time. This event was on PPV with a 10pm start. fuck all that politically correct bullshit when it comes to grown men stuff.

also, fuck the faggots and lardasses for being a big waste of humanity. The fat people i can sympathize for, some of it is health related, but you faggots disgust me.

Look at the human anatomy, you have a drill, the women have a hole.

Shit is like this for a reason. wake the fuck up

Your anuses were meant to be exit holes only(unless your a slutty chic).
You should reserve thoughts of disgust for yourself.

Pathetic. Phone Post

Though Joe comment about having an over weight ref were true however I didn't think the ref in this case  was that over weight.

With the Lance Bass joke not only was it funny  and not in the least  bit  homophobic. I doubt any kid hearing that would understand the references

I didn't get it I heard him say how far does a ref have to be so I looked at the ref and was shocked what he weigh? 240 maybe? That's at the most! I don't think you need to be in mma fighting shape to ref an mma fight. If the guy had been alot bigger he might have had a point but I don't see it Phone Post
