CUO, Do you use much of the 10th planet system regularly (the lockdown and sweep series, twister, rubber guard, etc)?

It seems like there's a great deal of variation in the games of BBs, I was curious how much things differed between you and other 10th planet BBs/higher belts.

From the things you mentioned about yourself on here (200 , lots of focus on wrestling, etc) I was having trouble picturing you as a rubber guard player. Phone Post

Brent's rubber guard is very professional, don't let his size fool you. I have a 265 pounder with a super sick rubber guard, Amir Allam :) Phone Post

I play it. Right now I have a herniated disc in my lower lumbar so it's difficult to do it on my right side. But I hit it all day from the left Phone Post

Why do you think the water makes the difference? My soreness has really limited my training to the point where my sparring can be really lame just so I can walk around the next day. Phone Post

Well muscle is made up of 75% water. So it would make sense that the more hydrated you are the less sore you will be. Run your car low on radiator fluid and see how it runs. Phone Post

When I'm sore I train more. I never feel sore while training, so if I'm training all day, it's not a big deal.

I've been bringing a Super Big-Gulp to class, to combat soreness, for YEARS...

Those 44oz of Strawberry Soda (plus skipping the live rolling) really seem to help.

i always explain it like this when trying to really reinforce the importance of hydration to both patients and team mates- think of your body tissue like a sponge. pick up a wet spong and you can pull on it, squeeze it, twist it, & stretch it and its just fine. now pick up an old dry sponge & do the same thing.... it will tear, break, ect.

usually this is a "lightbulb" moment for alot of people.
i also tell them that if you're not pissing crystal clear urine w/o odor you are not hydrating as completely as you could be.

i used to work in a very busy er. on my feet & running for 12 straight hours, lliterally eating on the move from room to room. i would drink 1.5-2 gallons of water per shift (no lie!) and i would still go home a little sore, tight legs, tight neck. when i didnn't down that much water i would feel like i got hit by a car the next day & my brain would feel like i had a hangover. makes a huge difference.

Cold (but not necessarily ice) baths and showers also held a lot with soreness. Plus, you get the added benefit of mastering your body and making it sit/lay in cold water for 10 minutes. Phone Post

That's an interesting analogy. I have a job exactly like that (12-13 hour shifts, running around constantly in a high-pace, high-stress environment) and frequently feel like shit the next day. I'll give it a shot. Phone Post

question for mountain medic: how do you explain then someone who doesnt drink "enough" water yet is, if not flexible to the eddie bravo or checkuroil standard still very flexible for a male, I.e, can put his legs, behind his head and do near splits and straddles?

fwiw I agree with you and feel WAY better WITH water...just curious from a medical standpoint how you would explain that? Phone Post

Is it usually split half and half? I drink a lot before training but that makes me piss a lot during.
