WAR Hatton.

Win or lose I'm a massive fan of his. He could have taken a much easier fight after being out of boxing for three and a half years but he decided to fight a boxer who only lost his unbeaten record in his last fight, which was also a title fight.

I hope he takes a much easier fight next and goes out on a win.

Just so people know, after 3 and a half years out, drug problems that were made public and him reaching 14 stone in weight he sold out the MEN arena in less than 48 hours. You can hear his fans singing his name as he is announced the loser of the fight. Considering how fickle people can be when following fighters, it's pretty cool how Hatton has become so loved in a dedicated manner. Phone Post

Don't follow boxing much so I was surprised by the back story:

Radio Raheem -

I feel bad for Hatton.

Thanks for postin RR. I was looking forward to this fight since they announced it but they weren't showing it here in NZ so VTFU for you. It looks like you could do with some.

That was hard to watch though. Ricky will always be a legend in my eyes, but he shouldn't of been in the same ring with a recent world champion, for his 1st fight in 3 and a half years.

I know Floyd used to give him shit about his "Ricky Hatton hooks" but they were effective against nearly everyone he fought with the exception of a few. It was sad to see him tonight, miss so much, by so far.

I hope he comes back again though, cos I'd hate that to be his last fight after all the great moments he's given his fans.

I still think if he had a couple of tune up fights he could challenge for a world title again.

You have to admire it though, 3 and a half years away from boxing and he was still a few rounds from sneaking a decision. THERE'S ONLY ONE RICKY HATTON! Phone Post

I was never a Hatton fan when he was in his prime, but it was rough seeing him go out like that in his hometown. He looked pretty good early in the fight too. Damn shame that he let the booze, drugs and binge eating end his streak as an A-level fighter prematurely.

I do wonder what effect the punches he's taken has had on his personality. There's a lot of evidence that's come out in the past few years that CTE (basically a form of brain damage caused by blows to the head) can cause or exacerbate depression.
