totaljerkface - i wouldn't say he got smashed in his first fight.

he controlled the first round completely, but had trouble choking with the gloves.

In the next round he got cut from one strike and the fight was stopped. He was trying to work a sweep when the ref stood them up to check on him. He was completely coherent.

It's crazy to me how much the rules of mma can benefit strikers over grapplers. Standups between rounds, no elbows or any type of strikes to the back of the head. One good takedown and backmount by a world class grappler without mma restrictions and you're fucked. If it weren't for mma rules, I would assume nearly all of the champs would be grapplers.
