Height and reach are way too much of an advantage now.

It wasn't like that in the old days.

While that is true, it is something more than that. In my opinion, if you won the Grand Prix, you were without a doubt the baddest man out there.

Also, there was a much more international feeling to Pride. Fighters from Russia, Croatia, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, etc. In today's UFC, it has more to do with what gym they belong to in the US, and almost becomes an ad for the coach.
