Forrest griffin was signing autographs at a local show in texas and a buddy of mine brought a ufc replica out of his bag to get signed when suddenly people start asking HIM for autographs assuming he was a ufc champ.

Forrest just laughed and told him to play along so for fifteen minutes it was a dual autograph signing.

A few years ago I was at a bar when Chris Leben (keep in mind, this was before he even showed any desire to be more mature, much less had he made any attempt at it) started very drunkenly hitting on a close female friend of mine. I recognized him right away, and though my friend had no idea who he was, he was very eager to let her know. She let him know that she wasn't interested, but he was very persistent, eventually hoisting her over his shoulder and standing her on the bar. She was pissed, and looked at me to do something as he poked her rather inappropriately and insisted she dance.

Well, seeing a friend in trouble like that, I started getting a bit upset. Then, I remembered that it was Chris Leben (a man not known for making the most rational decisions in such a state), and I didn't say a goddamn word. I mean, shit.

4 fans yesterday sporting new TUF shirts walked up to one of the fighters doing the media thing for a photo. Afterwards they walked off giggling like school girls when one of them said "how cool was that. A photo with Ellenberg!"

This is a great thread, but I don't understand why some people blur their faces in pics with fighters.

maybe don't want to piss off a fighter for telling a personal story or something? Thats just my guess.

Deuce77 - So it looks like Renzo is the coolest muthafucka in MMA.
I want to clarify that he was howling in laughter and acted like we were old friends when my story occurred. Porra ...my brother...fuck!

I've met a bunch of people, and he was the coolest. Phone Post

I watched the last Paquiao fight with Carlos Rocha at a buddies house. Turns out he's been dating a friend of mine for a while. Small world.

Way to many to list, but after witnessing the first UFC 1 on PPV it started...

I went to my first event at UFC 3 with my friend that was a Judo blackbelt and roomates in Japan with Christophe Leinenger that fought Ken Shamrock that night.  I met Rorion before the event started and someone said good luck tonight for Royce and he said, we don't need luck, just finding a parking spot for luck.

I also attended UFC 4,5 front row. On the way to UFC 5 I was on a commuter plane with a guy I met Tank Abbott. He let me know he was invited to check out the event and he was looking to get in to fight. Later that night I went to a club with Andy Anderson that fought the next night and David Tabbot was there too.

I didn't attend UFC 6 but when they announced Tank, I was surprised to see him and only knew him as David before that.

I attended UFC 7 in Buffalo and turns out Paul Varleans that fought also graduated H.S. with my ex-girlfriend.

Went to UFC 8 and cornered alternate fighter Keith Mielke in the David vs. Galliath tournament.

Met Tito at UFC 11 I think it was and many more before they ever got in the UFC.

Fast forward until about 2 years ago, I was on the phone with Ronda Rousey and she was crying because she couldn't get opponents so I invited her out to a show and then had her compete a couple times and is now the most famous MMA fighter.

Long strage trip it's been.

DanTheWolfman - Man I've got tons just throwing a few here and there based on what people put as it is a cool thread.

After UFC on Fox 4 weigh ins we went out to eat, and Gil was there. I had my daughter go feel him out see if he was cool as hadn't met him before. He signed her pass and was super cool. Even though he was drinking and hanging out, when he saw I was going to live he offered to do the interview I wanted right there since didn't seem like we would hook up later. I got him outside the place and got a very cool interview w skyline in the back.

Strikeforce Rousey/Kaufmann.....After Julie Kedzie had her war and I interviewed her she was walking around the arena looking great being awesome to every single fan there. She literally went from one side of the arena to the other to go talk to my daughter, even though getting stopped for pics every second. My daughter is a good wrestler with good standup and she went and talked to her, invited her to train at Jackson's when she is a bit older etc took pic and was all around awesome.

King Mo gave both my daughter and myself shoutouts on one of the Invicta's.

Ken Shamrock has been different towards me a few times.
During the Hard Camo days of the lion's den at one of the Arnold Classics, I had been friends already in the past with Jerry Bohlander and Pete Williams. But any time I got close Ken gave me looks like Who the hell was I to come near his posse etc. A couple years ago I got a very good interview with Ken on a wrestling movie we both worked on "Beyond the Mat" not pro-wrestling, high school amateur wrestling drama. I hope I get copy of interview someday if it is ever released.

Had Dinner with Kimo a couple times, even UFC 43 when I was their with his opponent Tank. Kimo saw me eating at the hotel alone, asked if he could join me, I said sure" but you know I am here with Tank right" he didn't care and ate with me anyway. Bumped into him at a stunt audition last year.

I am so many.......

www.TheCombatSystem.com

The only time I met him he was totally volatile. He was at the UFC Fan Expo at some booth...and he started going OFF about how MMA today is full of p*ssies that couldn't hang in NHB like guys did back in that day. ETC. He mentioned guys dont want to get hit, they stall, they fight not to lose rather than going out there and slugging it out. While he was talking a crowd gathered. I have no idea who he was shouting at specifically...seemed he just wanted everyone to hear him. I guy in teh crowd (hiding) told him to STUF, then suddenly the whole crowd grew balls the size of Hong Man Choi and starting cursing at him. It was very very odd.

Shits its been a few days...and if you read anything that I have written, a lot of it seems crazy. I assure you all again, I tells NO LIES. I have been a magnet for craziness my entire life. So for me its just another day. Anyways, I got married this July in Hawaii (hold your applause) in Hawaii. Very beautiful place. My wife and I had been having a hard hard time trying to find who we wanted to perform our ceremony. There are tons of people in Hawaii who make a living off of marrying people and I planned my wedding in about two weeks. In my family, I take the lead so my wife just told me "just pick the one you think is best for us and Ill be happy if you are happy." Pressure on my back. Wanted my wedding to be perfect. Ended up picking a guy named Colin from a site called sweethawaiiweddings.com...worked through his wife planning things over email over two weeks, then flew to Hawaii for the big day...

Cut to Hawaii. The guy who was marrying us insisted that we meet with him a few days prior to the wedding to plan everythign out. He talked to us about a bunch of stuff like different places to get married...I mention I wanted to do a sunset wedding...he then says well its going to be tough sometimes to get the perfect area for a sunset wedding but if you insist, ill do my best but I cant promise you anything. He then goes on to mention that a few years back, this really famous "KARATE" fighter had been married by him during a sunset. I then become VERY interested. I asked who the guy was...and the reverend kept saying the name "Andy KOTTER" Im like shit ive never heard of anyone named Andy Kotter...who the F*CK is Andy KOTTER? No idea...he then pulls out this binder full of pix...and says "Hey i still have the picture of this Karate guys wedding I can show you if you would like to see..." I just go along with it...Colin (the reverend) whips out the binder and flips to somewhere in the middle...He goes "See??? this is the Karate guy I married. The famous one...Andy Kotter or something like that. Really nice guy. Very strong. Built like a tank for a guy his age. Yes, Andy Kotter"...He hands me the picture of "ANDY KOTTER..." my jaw drops...i pass it to my wife...she smiles and me and doesn't say a word but I know whats she's thinking (she knows Randy is one of my favorite fighters)....Ladies and Gentleman...allow me to present to you Mr. ANDY KOTTER....otherwise known as Mr. Randy "the Natural" Couture....

Before I could say yes he says "grab this bag and come have lunch with me were gonna watch some fights" so I got to grab lunch and bs with Sean sherk

Also talked to Kurt pelligrino for close to 3 hours and didn't know who he was till he gave me one of his batman shirts... Felt horrible about it and dude was cool as hell cornering one of his guys for a fight my brother fought on.... Phone Post

ShanTheMan - I met Tank at a UPW show, I was a nervous 16 yr old skinny kid taking a picture with a fairly drunk Tank. I tried to not do the fist pose, but he turns to me and says "put your fuckin fist up man" in a very nice voice actually. I started laughing so if I can locate the old ass picture I will post it here. It is probably in a shoe box somewhere.

Later that night, Tank and that bald bodyguard dude had to leave for starting shit with Ken Shammy during his dog collar match that my uncle was reffing. I asked if it was a work afterward and apparently it wasn't. This was after Tank got up on his chair chanting "TITO TITO" and sorry to say, I joined in. I felt we were buddies at that point.

haha! Cant wait to see that pic dude. Tank is somebody I think people would all like to see at a UFC Fan Expo. I made another thread regarding a possible "UFC Legends booth" at next years Expo...I hope it gets enough buzz to get someones attention. I wana meet Keith HACKNEY!

I will look for it. It is funny, the cage fighter and the scrawny teenager!

sub a dub dub.

Not really any interesting stories except I got to meet Chris Leben for a second here in Alaska.  He'll come over this way from  Hawaii to corner some of his guys that fight over here.  Asked him to take a picture with my girl and he did with no problem, even made some goofy face.  Even though he was nice, that guy is still intimidating.

Also got a chance to catch an elevator with Herb Dean in Biloxi, MS at the Hard Rock Casino.  There was some MMA show going on that night and he was one of the refs.  He was real quiet, almost kind of shy I guess.  Nice guy though.

Was a pretty cool setup and had a lot of people attend not sure why it didn't take off more Phone Post

No encounters... yet. I just found out the guy across the street with the fancy sports car and the limo's in front of his house every other week is a "famous guy that does UFC". (According to one of the other neighbors at least.) I've been here 3 years and I haven't the slightest clue who it is lol. Never bothered looking at my neighbors closely.

LOL being chased down a hallway by Sam Adkins after I judged one of his fights he lost... Dan Severn treating me like I was his long lost sister. Rolling with Remco Pardoel him getting me side mount & laughing saying " I am two of you sister" Looking across the ring at my opponents corner of Guy Metzer Ken Shamrock & Tre Telligman & thinking OMG her corner would destroy mine hahahaha
