i totally agree ...i like the no point system... i hate watching and competing against people that play the clock and points game.....i think thats what makes marcello garcia all around the best and most entertaining grappler in the world.

I'd like to see pins counted as finishes after an allotted time...maybe with 5 minutes left in the match.

understood.  but it would keep competitors from 'locking down' in guard.  And it's not a freestyle/amateur pin, the shoulder blades have to be held down for 3 seconds.

actually, I thought the Ryron/Galvao match was very exciting.

I just think there has to be a way to provide more action as the match winds down.  When you get to those last few minutes, I'd like to see some incentive for the guy in the 'disadvantgeous' position to open up their game and take risks.

If you had a submission-only league, subs could count as (for example) 3 points, a draw is 1 point, and a loss is 0 points.  Over the course of several events, you could keep track of points like hockey or NASCAR.  In a superfight format, I think you need something to keep the contestants from playing for pride..."I didn't get tapped"

i can see it from your perspective, but to me, defending the submission attempts and positional transitions of one of the best grapplers on the planet is definitely 'something'.  :)

I was thinking of an 'overtime' or bonus period, where you start back on the feet, but a pin counts as 'advantage'.

Competitors stand back up after a pin and start again.  A sub still ends the match, but finishing with the advantage would be a tie-breaker.

Or something.  I'm open to the interpretation that I'm just an imbecile.
