"I think pretty much every MMA fan out there wants Chandler-Alvarez 2, so give the fans what they want," Chandler today told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). "If he stays in Bellator, let's fight. Let's do it two times, three times, four times, who cares.

"We're fighters. Our job is to fight, and our job is to go out there and entertain the fans."

"Whatever is best for him, I hope it works out for him," Chandler said. "He's obviously motivated mostly by the money. He's got two or three kids at home and a wife, so he's got to support them. Wherever he's getting paid the best is where he's going to go."

Well, he is a prize fighter. I would assume money is the main motivation for most professional fighters, no?

Fighters have short careers, of course they're motivated by money.

If you had a chance to fight for the TOP org and fight the BEST guys, wouldn't you take a little paycut for what could be a great career/future choice?

Ok you're taking a few thousand less just for the fight pay, but what about the $ you would make from biggers sponsors, appearances etc? it would even out, no?

Them smaller orgs will not be around in the future.

Why should you have to take a paycut to fight in the top organization? Sounds like a monopoly to me

Chandler, you're just mad he's getting called up to the UFC after you finished him and you're still stuck there.

Not necessarily. Could be simple economics of the situation. Yes, you'd think you'd be getting a pay raise when you step up to the highest level, however not if you've been making lots of money because you're the big fish in a small pond. Now you're just an ordinary fish in the biggest pond, you may not be paid as well at first but if you are successful the sky is the limit. Phone Post

Another example of the ug news taking a statement and twisting it making Chandler look like a douche.

Chandler could also care less imo he already wooped that ass. Phone Post

Douche or not, you know he wants to be in the UFC.

Any top fighter in Bellator would jump on the opportunity to crossover, and Chandler is no different.

Saying this in 2009 when Eddie first signed with Bellator would make sense, but not right now. Bellator has decided to match Zuffa's offer, which leaves Alvarez shit out of luck whether he wants to be in the UFC or not. I think Eddie has made it pretty clear while trying to remain respectful to Bjorn Rebney and Bellator that he wants to be in the UFC. The decision is out of his hands now.

In the end, these fighters have a very small window of opportunity to make money in this sport. There are no guarantees he will ever be UFC champion and or that he will ever even sniff a title shot. If Alvarez is getting paid more than then UFC's lightweight champ to fight considerably lower competition, then more power to him. As a fan it's disappointing, but as Chandler said, he has a family to think about. Bellator keeps proving the naysayers wrong and 4 years later they have finally made it to Spike. I don't think they are going anywhere for the time being.

When Chandler does get to the UFC, it won't be long before he's the LW champ. He beats anybody in the division right now.

That chick is totally hot, but your statement is simply incorrect. Chandler trains with an intensity second to none, and that's a tall order considering who he trains with down at Alliance. I'm sure he wants to make money as much as the next guy, and sure, who WOULDN'T (for the most part) want to fight in the UFC, but him being "mad about being stuck" is simply wrong.

People who train (edited to add, AND FIGHT) that hard are motivated by more than money.

Shocking, a guy who gets hit in the face for a living (undeniably causing brain damage) wants to get paid the most money possible?

Get the fuck out of here!

Was gonna post something similar. Quote nearly as bad as thread title made me think it was going to be. Seems like Chandler is cool with Alvarez getting paid and just stated what all fighters would IMO. Phone Post

Chandler needs to move over too. He can beat Gil. And, the fact is that these fighters would move to the UFC even if it was a pay-cut (many already have).

Absolutely ludicrous.

This is professional prize fighting. . .

ALL should be motivated by money. . .

The largest orgs should without exception pay more. . .

Most fighters know the fans would turn on them if they mentioned wanting to make money. In any other job--lawyer, doctor or construction worker--people are encouraged to make money. That' the purpose of work, right?

If you read the actual article, Chandler was actually pretty respectful towards Alvarez unfortunately, that is not the opinion that most people would get based upon that bullshit article headline. Phone Post

Bellator doesn't seem like a great spot for marquee fighters, unless spike really takes off, but who knows. I don't think he's getting less money in the UFC either its just better fights. Either way he should be in the UFC. Phone Post

My first thought, and it's completely plausible.

Eddie's coming to the UFC.

I hope Eddie goes where he wants, I can see Bellators side, they put a lot behind him for years and they have that option

I really wanted Randy to fight Fedor, they put Randy on the shelf for a while and were going to keep him from ever fighting again
