MMA Viking spoke with Alexander Gustafsson today about the rumored UFC in Sweden. Gustafsson was at the opening of Allstars Training Center in Stockholm, where he revealed that Gegard Mousasi would be his opponent. “He is by far the most dangerous opponent so far” says The Mauler about the former Strikeforce champion that will be clashing on April 6 in Stockholm.

Probably yes. Out of Swedes Kakai, Njie, Nunes and Latifi have the best shot.
Number one Nordic pick for the UFC to sign would be Tom Niinimäki though.

Hmm, I don't like this fight for Mousasi. I keep picturing Gustafsson being like twice Gegard's size hah. Mousasi really needs to drop back down to 185, I'd rather see him fight Bisping/Lombard/Weidman than the monstrous guys a 205.

sinceufc2 - Gustafsson will probably try and take him down and win with a top game. I know he's a good striker, long but if Moussasi's takedown d hasn't improved it's just a smarter route to victory. Gegard is too good of a striker to play around with.
I don't think he could hold him down, though. Phone Post

Gustafsson gets up to 240 pounds between fights without being too flabby so yeah I would think that he will hold a clear size advantage over Mousasi

Alexanders reach 76.5
Gegards reach 76

North is saying Gus walks around at 240
Gegard walks around at 230

Just throwing that out there for those saying he's way too big.

I think Gus has a advantage in his ability to stick and move.
Gegards advantage is his tight technical defense.

Oh my god, it's Thiaguy. It's going to be 3 rounds, apparently the swedish athletic commission(whateveritis) doesn't allow 5 rounders.

UFC can apply for a permit to hold a 5 round fight.

Gegards advantage is his tight technical defense.

In a recent MMA Fighting article it said that Mousasi weighs around 210 pounds:
"Mousasi knows he's small for the division -- he walks around barely above 210 pounds -- but he's confident his technique, speed and conditioning will neutralize any weight advantage his opponents may have"

Measured reach is different from functional reach. Gustafsson is 4 inches taller (185 cm to 196cm) than Mousasi.

Should be an amazing fight and great to see the UFC back in my hometown. Hopefully there will be some great undercard fights as well and thank you UFC for coming back so soon.

As a dutchie and lover of great fighters i am a fan of the dreamcatcher but this is a bad match-up for him, that comes to soon.

Him fighting Shogun would have been a better fight for Gegard.

Then again i am a big fan of the Mauler as well. I think this is a rather easy fight for him because of both his reach and wrestling ability.

So fun to watch yes. But not the ideal moment.

Its leaves Shogun dangling in the wind and sets up another match-up where one of the winner gets a titleshot and the other will just move up into the division. Phone Post

i do too. Part of me wanted Gegard to get a cupcake fight because i want him to succeed, but in reality this is the type of fight that will let everyone know he has arrived and is there to legitimately contend for a belt.
