Before UFC 156 even started, Yahoo Sports Kevin Iole just tweeted the purses for UFC 156 main card.

Main card salaries:
Edgar & Aldo 120/120 each
Overeem 285714.29/142857.14 • Silva 70/0
Rashad 300/215 • Nog 107/67
Fitch 66/66 • Maia 60/60
Joe B 30/30 • McCall 9/9

Read entire Twitter...

Now the official figures have been released by the NSAC.

Jose Aldo - $240,000 ($120,000 purse/$120,000 win bonus)
Frankie Edgar - $120,000

Rashad Evans - $300,000
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira - $174,000 ($107,000/$67,000)

Antonio Silva - $70,000 ($70,000 purse/$0 win bonus)
Alistair Overeem - $285,714.29

Demian Maia - $120,000 ($60,000/$60,000)
Jon Fitch - $66,000

Joseph Benavidez - $60,000 ($30,000/$30,000)
Ian McCall - $9,000

Evan Dunham $46,000 ($23,000/$23,000)
Gleison Tibau - $33,000

Tyron Woodley - $87,000 ($43,500/$43,500)
Jay Hieron - $12,000

Bobby Green - $20,000 ($10,000/$10,000)
Jacob Volkmann - $22,000

Isaac Vallie-Flagg - $20,000 ($10,000/$10,000)
Yves Edwards - $21,000

Dustin Kimura - $16,000 ($8,000/$8,000)
Chico Camus - $8,000

Francisco Rivera - $16,000 ($8,000/$8,000)
Edwin Figueroa - $10,000

The above figures are presumably based on the fighter salary information that promoters are required by law to submit to the state athletic commissions, including the winners' bonuses.

The figures do not represent a full accounting of each fighter's income.

Fighters bear significant costs including training expenses, a percentage to management, a percentage to the trainer, plus insurance, licenses, and taxes.

On the income side, sponsorship money can be a substantial portion, or even exceed the purse from the fight. As well there are explicit 'of the Night' performance bonuses, and less formal 'locker room bonuses.'

Lastly, many fighters earn income from teaching, from appearances, and in many cases from regular employment in the non fighting space.

My sarcasm detector just exploded Kirik...

Frankie and Jose, in one of the all time biggest super-fights, made that much less than Bob Sapp? Oops, I mean Overeem.

Reem for one, but at least he fought more than Rashad. He got paid to sit there and bounce around the octogon for three rounds (super boring fight) and made more than aldo/edgar???

When? When he was brief champ 2 years ago? Times have changed, nobody cares about Rashad that much anymore.

Give Creepy a raise. At least bump him to 12/12 or 15/15.

9/9 is kind of ridiculous. Phone Post

Rashad Evans - $300,000
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira - $167,000 ($107,000/$67,000)

$107,000 + $67,000 = $167,000?

I'd say the only guy who is overpaid here is the guy who did the math.....

I'm sure Creepy will get paid in his next contract. He will be a fixture at 125 for a while and should be paid as such.

Creepy has yet to win a fight, so, here's hoping he gets a new contract.

would it help the sport recruit more top talent if orgs began sharing total income per fight?

these figures are low, doesn't sound like high level professional sports incomes.
