Because Zuffa told him he needs to string together 4-5 KOs.

With the way the division is looking I think he probably only needs maybe 2 more impressive wins.

Vitor called Weidman out months ago. Weidman said he would wait for Silva.

I'd assume they wouldn't want the same guy back in a title fight after getting finished in two recent back to back title fights.
However if it was chael... Phone Post

He's on a 3 fight streak at 185. If you take out the jones loss, I doubt he needs another 4-5 wins. Phone Post

I would watch Vitor vs Anderson 2 right now.

At most 1 more win imo, he's currently ranked #3 according to the UFC official rankings, and he just put the #4 guy to sleep.

So lets say Anderson faces weidman, and vitor fights anybody from #5-8 or so and wins.

As long as anderson wins, and doesn't move up or face GSP, who is there to fight him? Vitor.

He's in a tough spot but in this day fighters who have a few impressive wins are ranked higher than those who go on a boring 10 fight win steak without getting noticed.

A few more KO wins and I'm sure fans will be interested in a rematch Phone Post

Weidman needs to fight. Those of us who follow the sport know that he deserves the shot, but I think the UFC thinks it is just not a marketable fight. I think he needs to fight again and win (the more impressive the better). I would actually like to see him fight Vitor or Lombard and the winner gets a title shot.

If Vitor would've called for a rematch like Chael, he would've had it by now.

He finished Rumble, KO'd Akiyama, fought Jones(who Anderson won't fight), and KO'd Bisping, who not only would've got a shot had he won, but got robbed of a title shot in a poor decision loss with Chael.

He's already done enough. No question. Just not vocal on it.

It should be:

Weidman VS Anderson

Vitor VS Rockhold for #1 contender

Lombard VS Okami (fight is already made apparently)

And that's the way it's gonna play out, folks.

Vitor scored his first Top 10 win at 185 in the last 4 years, and he suddenly leapfrogs the SF champion and Weidman for a second chance?

No.

RileyPust (above your post) has it correctly.

LOL @ Top 10 win at middleweight.

The rankings have nothing to do with it.

If they did, Belfort just KO'd the #2 guy. So tell me how the fuck that works.

You guys man.

Half this site doesn't even know who Chris Weidman is. If he's so damn good, and ready to fight the champ, then surely he can fight the SF champ and get some recognition, eh ?

I have it right, ya'll have it wrong. Zuffa doesn't want the risk of Vitor/Silva 2. It was Anderson's crown jewel, and they don't want to mess with it until it's undeniable to the fans. By that time(4 KO's) it will be too late.

Heel Hooker - He should fight Chael if Jones is able to win

Unbelievable

Chael loses to Anderson, beats Stann, gets a gift decision over Bisping, then another gift loss to Anderson, another gift fight with Jones, and then another gift with Vitor if he loses ?

What is wrong with this picture ?

I feel like I'm on crazy pills.

Ferrari ?

Latigra ?

Blue Steel ?

You're right, rankings have nothing to do with it. Therefore why the fuck would we wanna watch Vitor get KTFO again before seeing the manner in which this new crop is gonna get KTFO?
