I think he'll under perform if he cuts 7lbs in 3 days and competes straight away Phone Post

Cutting for ibjjf tournaments is a mistake, he should go up a weight class so he can eat beforehand.  You have like 20 minutes to rehydrate and you need way more time. I think 3 lbs of water per hour, not exactly sure on that number.

A few years back I was working with a few very high level Judoka. One was the top in the USA at the time at 155. He would make weight and then I.V. fluids immediately after to rehydrate A.S.A.P. This is extreme and beyond most average guys (this guy was Olympic level).

Otherwise, I agree with the guys above. With same day weigh in, rapid (last minute) weight cutting is ill advised.

Next time, plan ahead.

Yeah I don't do much of any weight cut. I stay around 208 and compete at 206.9 or 204.9 depending on tournament. Phone Post

I cut 10 cut pounds over the course of 4 days using water loading once for a bjj competition.
It was big mistake
Won first match via quick sub
Second went all the way, won via decision
Before the final I was trying vomit outside and was shaking violently and had to force myself to get on the mat lost via quick sub had no energy at all. Phone Post
