I hope MMA doesn't come to this or I'll stop watching it entirely, that is just insane.

Most definitely this should be overturned to a No Contest.

The Ref in that fight happens to be a seasoned fighter... he has been fighting and reffing for a loooong time, he knows this game inside and out.
That said, it was a bad call... a mistake... and he knows it, has admitted it, and i dont think blasting him and threatening his life, is called for...

John... i support you on this to the fullest, but i implore you to make sure others know, That guy is a stand up guy through and through...

FRAT Warning! (summary: I've got no beef with the ref or my opponent)

Good point Fred and I do, as always appreciate your support my friend.  I said it earlier in the thread that I've got no beef.

First, the purpose of this thread is not to browbeat a good ref under MOST circumstances.  What I wanted to do was to get some support and some momentum to effect an overturning of the result.  Overwhelmingly, everyone that has viewed this video that is not named Calvin Miller and does not train or is affiliated with Calvin Miller can objectively say that this was a very fast stoppage.  I don't think that is even questioned at this point.  Everyone that I've shown the video to, that knows anything about Mixed Martial Arts has told me for sure, this should be a NC.  Even civilians were like WTF?

I say again, I do not want the ref for my fight to be vilified on the UG.  He has made good with me in this matter.  He's admitted it was a mistake.  It was a mistake.  Please for heavens sake do not blame or speak ill about Rich Clementi or the Bomb ASS promotion that he's running on the Gulf Coast.  Gladiator Combat Championships is the Truth!  Believe Dat!

The issue in this case is the MS State Athletic Commision.  They have the ability to overturn the result.  It should be a simple matter.  It's been a month now, based on the conversation that I had with the commish, they are concerned that this would open the door for everyone that gets bad decision or a cock eyed call to try to get thier fights overturned.  To be honest, I don't care about all that.  I care about me and my record.  I'm biased, but where do you draw the line?  If this isn't a case for a NC, what is.  Maybe an eye gouging, someone bites an ear off, a fish hook or a sturdy kick in the balls.  What are the cases where you can go back and say, yes, a mistake was made, we need to fix this?

I fight because I enjoy the experience and the challenge of it.  The cheddar is nice too.  When I fight I want to either win or lose and give the audience a show in the process.  Nothing in between.  How many times have you asked someone how thier fight went and they say that the ref stopped the fight too early or the judges were wack?  Then you go back and look at the video or talk to someone who was there and find out the fighter was on the verge of getting put into a coma.  I'M NOT THAT GUY, LOL.

Once again, nothing against the ref, my opponent, or anyone for that matter.  I just want someone to make this right......before I make it right on my own when I rematch this summer.  If you get a minute, shoot a message to msboxing@aol.com and let them know what you think should happen regarding the result of my bout.

OSS!

That stoppage was bad. Last bad stoppage I can think of was when Anthony Johnson got TKO'd by an obvious eye gouge. That didn't get overturned by the AC for some reason. Good luck.

Terrible stoppage but I hope it doesn't get overturned. That's a slippery slope to go down. Every fighter that loses via a ref stoppage or on a decision will be busy appealing and trying to get it changed.

John Harris -  I just hope the commissioner does the right thing. Has anyone seen a worse or quicker stoppage than this? I'm biased and can't think objectively. Drawing a blank. Phone Post

The right thing is to leave it as is. Win the rematch then all will be fine.

Tried to make this a pm, but Android app doesn't seem to let me.

I'm a pa attorney who does a lot of administrative law work. Can't practice in MS, but world be willing to help you draft a brief. I'd need you to fax me some info and then I'd dig into the regs and any relevant case law (maybe boxing). An affidavit from the ref would go a long way toward helping the commission feel like they're not opening to big a can of worms. Pm me when you get the chance. No charge because I don't practice in your state, but I would like to help you out. You got robbed. Phone Post

I was a judge for Rich's show that night and from cage side it looked like john was hit with a good shot but was off balance more than rocked. As soon as he hit the deck he was on his feet and back in the fight. JC (ref) was in a bad position to see and jumped in to quick.  Reffing is without a doubt a thankless job. You ref a thousand fights and if you make a mistake that is all anyone will remember.. That being said, I know that the commission is definatley looking into this because, being an official at the event I was asked to give my opinion on the fight. I believe the fight should be ruled a NC because the fight was clearly not over. John Harris was not TKO'd by any standard of the rule of intelligently defending ones self.

Video evidence also clearly shows this statement to be true and I hope it gets turned over.  Its the right decision..
