Since no one else seems to want to say it.

Caros Fodor vs. Sam Stout

Round 1
Jason Herzog is the referee for this lightweight bout. Stout ducks a punch and tries to wrap Fodor up, but the Matt Hume pupil shoves him off and wants to strike. Stout closes the gap again, now pushing Fodor against the fence, but Fodor’s keeping busy with strikes to the body while looking for the Thai clinch. They break off and Fodor walks Stout down, landing a right hook. Stout wobbles Fodor with a right hand of his own and Fodor changes levels to put Stout down at the base of the fence. Stout sits up against the cage, hits the switch and holds Fodor on the cage as they stand back up. Good knees to the body from Stout as he lays his forearm across Fodor’s neck to control. Fodor gets off the cage and stuns Stout with another right, but Stout stands and answers before pushing Fodor on the cage again. Fodor lands a couple knees up the middle that have Stout repositioning. Fodor tries to trip Stout and winds up on his back after Stout reverses the momentum. Fodor lands a couple right hands from his back as Stout works to pass, then mount. Stout gets full mount with 45 seconds left in the round and Fodor gives up his back. Stout realizes his running out of time and switches from a choke attempt to an armbar. He digs his heels into Fodor’s body to try and get him to stop defending the submission, but Stout runs out of time.

Round 2
The lightweights clinch up almost immediately and begin jockeying for position on the fence. Neither man gets the upper hand, and they split, leaving room for Fodor to crack Stout with a big right hand. Stout quickly comes back to clinch again, and they stall out before separating again. Stout attacks the body with punches while Fodor looks to counter over the top with straight shots. More hooks to the body from Stout; Fodor trying to establish his jab and kicks inside, but takes a harder leg kick in return. Nice left hook lands for Fodor. He moves forward on Stout, lands another hook and an inside leg kick. Stout wraps him up and puts him on the fence again. Fodor gets away and starts pumping his jab again; it’s working, but Stout denies him when Fodor changes levels for a takedown attempt. Stout lands a knee to the body as he holds Fodor on the cage, then another to the head. Fodor goes low and hits a takedown just before the horn, then nearly gets swept as the close round ends.

Round 3
More early clinching leads to a Stout takedown, but it doesn’t last long. Fodor gets up and hits one of his own, though he has to work to keep Stout’s legs underneath him and prevent the Canadian from hitting the switch. Fodor keeps trying for the takedown until midway through the round, when he stands back up to clinch and gets reversed on the cage. They split with 1:45 left on the clock and Fodor draws a deep breath as he walks forward on Stout. A right hand lands for Fodor, followed by a left hook, and he tries an inside trip which Stout blocks. Stout puts Fodor on the fence again with an underhook as the last minute ticks away. Fodor lands a couple knees to the body as they scoot around the outside, managing to fend off Stout’s final takedown attempt to the horn.

Official result: The judges score the bout 29-28 Fodor, 29-28 Stout and 29-28 for the winner by split decision, Sam Stout.

Very close fight.  A loss could have put him in jeopardy of being cut.  Hopefully he can get some momentum and get a good streak going.  Maybe get himself a FOTN again.   Was disappointed in how he handled the Makdessi loss, but always want to see him do well, as the last of the Tompkins main core trio going for UFC success at the moment.

I thought it was a great fight and Sam showed a very different skill set from his previous fight and looked great in doing so. I was a little worried that he would get shafted in the decision like he has been in the past but it was nice to see him get the nod. Phone Post

I was very impressed with Fodor, but Stout pulled out the win. I'd love to see him vs. Bobby Green.
