It's a little over an hour but worth it.  For Christians who read the Bible not as a forshadowing of the coming of Jesus but as a text with its own messages.  Also, for athiests who want to understand how the Bible isn't about obedience but how to look at these sciptures as universal messages not directed to any one group.

What is referred to as the old testament is more of a telling about the reltionship between man and god. I would state that the old testament should not realy be considered as the "old" testament. Many pastors still find relevance in their words. Much of what Jesus said were taken from the Torah(first 5 books).

I can't necessarily disagree but - I think many Jews & non-Jews miss what's going on.  Of course there are many laws and instructions dictated to humanity by God but the people don't always obey and the texts show how God likes that.  God doesn't want piety he wants a sense of righteousness & a people to think for themselves - which is a major point of the video above.  But this thinking for yourself has a price to pay if you are going anarchist.  The Bible is about beaking free and thinking responsibly.  The ability for you & I to discuss and agree or disagree - I believe is biblical.  That is another point made in the above video.  The below one is much shorter but drives the point home.

From Yoram Hazony: Author of "Philosophy of Hebrew Scripture"
Church Times Says Philosophy of Hebrew Scripture "Something of a Masterpiece"

The Revd. Dr. Andrew Davison, Tutor in Christian Doctrine at Westcott House, Cambridge reviews my book "The Philosophy of Hebrew Scripture" in the Church Times (UK), the largest circulation Anglican paper. Davison has reservations concerning my presentation of Christianity, but he praises the book highly as a work on the philosophy of the Bible, calling it "something of a masterpiece."
