So I have been getting back into running after a while of not
Being able to run due to an injury to my Achilles tendon.

The pain is on the outside of my knee but doesn't come when I am running its painful when I bend certain ways such as crossing my legs or sleeping with my legs bent

If I keep my knee bent for an extended period such as sitting at my desk it becomes very tight and takes several minutes to feel like I can use it comfortably

Is this something common or a sign of something more serious Phone Post

Sounds like your IT band, try this stretch 2 or 3 times a day.

And foam roll.

^ Agreed. Strength Running is a really good site. If the self-treatment doesn't work, then give Active Release a try. It cleared up a chronic IT Band thing for me and has helped with many of my running friend's IT band problems. Find a provider at activerelease.com. It's usually covered by insurance.

Any thoughts on pain under the knee cap? When I am warm and exercising it's fine but if I stand up slow or slow bodyweight squat movement I get sharp stabs under both knee caps.

Starting to be annoying. I'm 40 so it might just be old age :(
