Chimonos Revenge - 50-45 in which Diaz didn't win a single minute of the fight, was outstruck 3 to 1, was taken down 9 times to zero, and spent the majority of the fight getting dumped on his head, turtling, and trying to roll out from under GSP...

Guess that doesn't meet your criteria for dominated.

Keep in mind that Diaz is one of the toughest fighters in the sport to actually finish, so when you criticize GSP for being unable to finish Diaz in a fight he was completely outclassing him, you also disrespect Nick Diaz.

Most Diaz fans aren't smart enough to understand that correlation, however

Amazing Chimonos the amount of Diaz fans here on the UG and there level of die heart devotion. I think most do understand he lost the fight though and was dominated. It's not like GSP is not the best ever at what he does as well! No shame in going the distance for either fighter agreed.

Bar condit it was his hardest, his face showed it, and he was getting badly gassed/ uneasy from 3rd onwards, he didn't look comfortable/ fluid from the 3rd onwards, truly relied on his athletic prowess/ takedowns and not on his martial art skill Phone Post

This is why:

dom·i·nat·eddom·i·nat·ing

1
: rule, control <an empire that dominated the world>
2
: to exert the supreme determining or guiding influence on <the ambition that has dominated his life>

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dominate
Well at least we don't have to look up stupid seeing as you posted a prime example of stupidity.

Context son, GSP held a position. He however didn't do anything dominant with it. This was a prize fight and GSP won but nothing he did was dominant.

He couldn't pass, hell couldnt even keep nick from standing up, never had Diaz in submission trouble, he didn't do any damage to speak of, surely if someone truly was so dominant from top position one would hope to see the fruits of his labor.

Jordan Breen, ever hear of that guy. Personally I think it's horrible but I know a lot of mma fans view him as highly credible.

He's also a starch Diaz hater, he's always got some gum flapping to do about Diaz. He said on after the bell he felt Diaz won the stand up, I thought the striking was fairly even with GSP landing more shots and Nick landing harder shots.

I swear the worst trolls on the forums are Diaz haters. Phone Post

I do not hate Diaz LOL.

In fact some great fans of his are my friends. Frankly, I hate no fighter (I did dislike Brock the most though after the 'finger' and talking about laying on his wife though).

To me 50-45 is dominant. Winning every round (with EVERY major web site as far as I know in agreement of that) and controlling your opponent is dominant IMO. As usual GSP could have gone for more to be 'more' dominant but failed to. Why argue about the level of dominance? It existed and yes could have been greater. I'm completely neutral on the matter as well. I think most posters agree that he was dominant no?
This is mma not wrestling, damage wins fights, damage should be at the base if any assessment as to who won or how "dominant" one fighter was over the other.

If you want brownie points for Finesse and technique go watch some other sport gymnastics is cool, the ufc simply wasn't designed with that mind.
I understand this is changing or hell has changed but that's why Diaz mention pride rules.

That said I won't be surprised when they add padding to the gloves and start valuing technique and volume over damage more and more.

Fucking tkd values..

For instance GSP's top position throughout the fight was the volume too bad it doesn't damage a fighter to simply be in their guard, he still won I'm not saying he didn't but you'll never convince me that it was in dominating fashion.

Anyone who understands martial arts and combat sports knows this fight with mostly a stalemate that GSP won by control not necessarily doing significantly more to end the fight. Phone Post

GSP dominated Nick. GSP won every round, and about 24/25 minutes of the fight. Nick didn't do a damn thing. Which is actually a shame because he had 13 minutes on the feet to try and implement his game but couldn't beat GSP there either.

There have been countless discussions about how "Pride Rules" would have only benefitted GSP, not Diaz in that fight.

That is a hollow argument. Diaz would have been eating knees on the ground a lot in that fight.

GSP dominated Diaz in every aspect of MMA in that fight, including striking.

Not just wrestling. Diaz couldn't do anything of note on the feet in the close to 10 minutes they were on the feet in this fight.

Totally outclassed in every area of MMA, except trash talking and Wing Chun moves.

lol at a "stalemate won by control".

Put down the bong, dude.

Solidifies my opinion that Diaz fans are watching a completely different fight then everyone else, since they always have such skewed opinions on what actually happened.

the gsp trolls usually sound ignorant because the acronym U.F.C. is very misleading. The reason it implies the contests have something to do with fighting is because it did before they came up with the fake weight classes, roids, TRT, and lots of rules.

if i wanna see a tackling demonstration, i will watch the nfl. those cats can tackle guys with world class speed.

You missed rounds 3-5 eh?

GSP was gassing, getting stuffed, and finding ways to get a point in here or there without having to commit to anything too much. Phone Post

Diaz was not humiliated but yes, GSP dominated that fight.

And....why are Diaz fanboys acting as if GSP was the only one talking to hype the fight and failed to deliver? Diaz talked more shit and did even less, point the finger and GSP though.

So because gsp did just enough in each round to beat Nick that equals dominance?

He didn't do significantly more damage than Nick did, he didn't come closer to finishing the fight than Nick did.
I even saw a post by somebody that stated GSP won via vicious ground and pound are you fucking kidding me?

He won the way he wins by positioning but come on it was a slow plodding fight because Diaz neutralized most of gsps G&P.

I don't like the way GSP fights but I respect it for what it is, effective.

He clearly won but the hyperbole is rancid. Phone Post

I think you're wrong, Diaz was talking about judging criteria and stalling ie the card system.

Both favor Diaz though I can't say how much impact it would have had it certainly would have been a different fight. Phone Post

Except at no time was GSP stalling.

The only people who express that sentiment are the Diaz nut huggers who can't look at anything objectively when it comes to their hero.

You could say Nick was stalling too, since he walked around on his feet with his hands down...that would be about as true as saying GSP stalled during the fight.

No, he didnt go for the kill..but he certainly wasn't stalling, and you have to be extremely partisan or just blind to what is going on if you claim otherwise.

It was a completely one-sided fight.

Diaz did nothing outside of a few punches that landed. He spent 95% of the time on the ground covering up or holding on.

The thing with standing with Diaz is that you can't win. You're not going to KO him and he's going to flutter those little punches and make it look like he's doing much more damage than he really is.

GSP is a much more "safe" fighter than he was in his prime, but there wasn't a lick of anything Diaz could do to him Saturday night. Diaz was so far out of competition it wasn't even funny.

There was no point where he wasn't working for position to throw punches/elbows/pass etc. Please stop living in denial. Nick was in NO WAY fighting to win the fight. He was fighting not to get beat up. Not that GSP was looking to have it stopped but don't be so stupid.

jesus christ, I'm a huge Diaz fan, and even I don't see how anyone could call that fight competitive. Jake Shields gave GSP a much tougher time. This fight was on par with the Dan Ardy fight.

TeamRenzo4Life - Is that your brain dead response? GSP vs Koscheck was a total domination. This was not that. Not even close.
You want to know what bugs me? I think GSP is a better athlete and fighter than Diaz. I believe that all day long. What bothers me is the way he uses that talent. For instance, GSP was getting the better of the stand up. He was popping Nick with those punches. Why take him down? I was there live, and even the people around me were getting frustrated.
I understand St.Pierre is trying to fight smart. I get that.
I want him to remind us all why he is the champ sometimes. Is that too much to ask?
Kos did a better job taking into consideration he had one eye IMO.

50-45 is pure domination. Phone Post

50-45 means someone edged each round. 50-40, or worse - which is actually possible, would be a domination. You might not know this, though, because the judges almost always give 10-9 rounds, unless there's a near-death.

I was there live, even the people around me were getting sick of GSP's bullshit. Point-scoring and holding someone down is not a domination, especially when you spend all kinds of time saying you're gonna beat him down. It was a disgusting display of fighting not to lose and never again will I pay money to see GSP.
