Fight Network Signs 2013 TV Deal with GLORY, Broadcasts GLORY 5 London LIVE Saturday, March 23, at 3:30 p.m. ET.
Toronto – Fight Network, the world’s premier 24/7 television channel dedicated to complete coverage of
combat sports, has announced a programming partnership with leading kickboxing organization GLORY World Series to broadcast the next 11 live events.
Fight Network will broadcast the first major GLORY World Series event of 2013 live on Saturday afternoon, as GLORY 5 London emanates from London’s Excel Arena at 3:30 p.m. ET.
The live kickboxing extravaganza is headlined by heavyweight juggernauts Tyrone Spong and Remy Bonjasky.
A Surinamese-Dutch veteran, the 27-year-old Spong recently made a triumphant mixed martial arts debut on the inaugural World Series of Fighting card, as he’s trained alongside the Blackzilians in Florida. Known as the “King of the Ring,” the former It’s Showtime! 95 kg MAX world champion Spong owns a 68-6-1 professional kickboxing record, entering this bout on a four-fight winning streak, including a third-round knockout of kickboxing icon Peter Aerts last June.
The 37-year-old Bonjasky also represents Suriname and Holland, training out of Mejiro Gym and Vos Gym. A former three-time K-1 World Grand Prix champion, “The Flying Gentleman” returned from a three-year hiatus in 2012, rattling off a pair of wins over Anderson “Braddock” Silva and Filip Verlinden before dropping a decision to Jamal Ben Saddik at GLORY 4 Tokyo on New Year’s Eve. One of the most decorated kickboxers in history, Bonjasky’s 77-16 record includes notable wins over Badr Hari, Ernesto Hoost, Alistair Overeem, Jerome Le Banner, Stefan Leko, Melvin Manhoef, Gokhan Saki and Errol Zimmerman.
In the GLORY 5 London co-feature, 25-year-old Australian standout Steve Moxon takes on British Contender U.K. tournament champion Jordan Watson. Moxon has amassed a 31-5-1 professional campaign, while Watson is 36-4.
Other notable bouts include 31-year-old Andy Ristie (39-3-1) against 32-year-old legend Albert Kraus (74-15-3), American knockout artist Eddie Walker (11-2-1) versus four-time world champion Stephen Wakeling (36-4), German banger Danyo Ilunga (43-4) taking on Frenchman Stephane Susperregui (10-2), plus Michael Dutt squaring off with UFC veteran and GLORY USA tournament champion Dustin Jacoby.
