While most attention in mixed martial arts is on the pros, most fights, by two to one, are amateur. Thus the regulation of amateur MMA is of critical importance. Nowhere have there been a greater number of reports of problems with amateur fights than in Michigan.

The state government appears finally to be doing something about it.

If passed Thursday, the bills will be sent to the Senate for consideration.
