An "elated" Mitrione talked to UFC Tonight:

"I was out for 14 months, and I'm coming off of two losses in a row, so it was a really emotional victory. Everything about it was really emotional. I was so elated. It was just a beautiful feeling. Whoever the UFC thinks is a fair and appropriate match-up for me, that's who I'm looking for."

Mitrione avoids a pink slip ... for now.

Even Cormier? War Meat, but you do not want whoever they give you next. You want the best match up possible, and that is fair. But lets just be honest about it. Phone Post 3.0

Give him Schaub. It's a fair matchup.

I wish they'd just stop asking fighters who why wanna fight next.

I'm tired of "whoever the ufc / Dana / Silva tells me to, I'll fight anybody".

The only alternative, actually picking an individual, is greeted with howls of "who does he think he is???".

It's a cliche at this point.

'Mitrione avoids a pink slip ... for now.'

What a douchey comment.

The UFC is interested in recognisable guys with good personality and most importantly entertaining fights. Matt has the lot, no way the UFC releases him. He beat Kimbi ffs, clowned Tito besides Kong, never had a boring fight. Phone Post 3.0

I didnt click the link but saw the interview yesterday and he followed it up by saying something like "if the fight makes sense and is a good match up for me"

Yeah i remember when he said he wouldn't fight DC because of his "wrasslin".

Honestly I don't think the de fries win proves much for him it was a must win fight for him. I could still see him getting cut if he loses his next fight. Phone Post 3.0

Matt won yesterday. Winner vs. Winner.
Win doesn't = fighting another winner. With a win over Phil deFries (2-3-0, #48), Matt (ranked 26, and 6-2, on a 2 fight loss streak beforehand) shouldn't fight the winner of Gonzaga/Browne. Gonzaga is ranked 20, and is on a 2-fight win streak, with former success and popularity in the UFC. Browne is 4-1-1 in the UFC and ranked 17, only losing to the current #1 contender. Matt should happily fight the loser, or fight the likes of Rothwell/Duffee first. Phone Post

It looked like a jumping teabag was the method used to get the win.
