Strained my knee a year ago and this is the first time I've gone heavy in freaking ages. 220kg was easy, 230kg was a bit 'wiggly'... Nearly tripped over my fucking socks walking out with the 220kg. Barefoot is where it's at.

Awesome job!!

Question: Why not stay in the rack? It looks like you would still have the clearance. I'm safety minded so that's why I'm asking.

Very good. The socks thing would scare me, I would rather go completely bare foot, seems safer.

Your walk out is funny, you almost left the gym...

Looks like the bar would hit the rack if he squatted inside.

Twisted my ankle playing Touch (newly-irrigated fields in Summer = Bad) and didn't train for a couple of weeks, then did what should have been an easy 140kg x 20 (sans warm-up) and felt something crunch halfway through.

I couldn't fully extend my leg without twisting for a couple of months and the weakness in my knee was compensated by my lower back, which occasionally got stabbing pains.

I eventually found what rehablitated me was just knocking out higher-rep sets to develop the form and hypertrophy needed to handle heavy loads.

Awesome job!!

I used to whack the bar on the lower rack every now and again (especially rapid Squats with lower weight) and hate being enclosed when I lift, which is why I don't use the power rack.

Very good. The socks thing would scare me, I would rather go completely bare foot, seems safer.

The socks usually come off on 220kg but I forgot due to the camera-Wookie asking whether I was ready. I replied 'sure!' without thinking.

I've been squatting like that for over a decade now, so it's second-nature. It still looks damn strange when I see it on film.

For hilarity, my Clean approach used to be pretty bizarre. I would grab the bar, do a little hop, then wiggle my feet into position.
