The quiet atmosphere of the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Nicaragua became a chaotic scene after former world champion Ricardo "El Matador" Mayorga showed to up to confront his next opponent, Wesley Tiffer. Mayorga makes his Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) debut on May 3 at Pharaohs Casino in Managua.

Tiffer was arriving to the country a little early and did not receive the welcome he expected, when Mayorga was there to greet him with insults and challenged to fight him in the airport.

"I wanted to make sure with my own eyes that you were coming," said Mayorga, 40. "Look at me, I'm at 164 pounds. I just need to lose four pounds and I'm ready to win. I'm really angry. I'm from the country where women give birth to real men. You'll get a reputation for the beating that I'm going to give you. I am the world champion. I will punish you and knock you out. Come on!"

Meanwhile, Tiffer and his coaches were amazed with the scene.

"I do not expect to see him here. He is probably my biggest fan and he hasn't said anything intellectual. We are only a week away and you will get a clear account of what he can do in MMA. I'm not afraid. There is no way that he can win. I'm going to close his mouth," said Tiffer.

This article says Wesley Tiffer has fought 6 times in Brazil:

I can't find anything about him on Sherdog or anywhere else, except that he has reffed a few fights in Nicaragua. Can anybody tell me about his fight experience?

When Mayorga lit that cigarette in ring and had a beer after beating Forrest it was like boxing had their Stone Cold or Sandman.

His two Forrest wins coupled with cigarettes and beer made his career and cemented him as a personality.

I think this is why I look at how Chael has turned so many heads as nothing new or edgy yet is being treated as such.

A boxer lighting up a smoke after fighting like an animal?

Now, THAT was bad ass and insane.

I bought Cotto vs Mayorga on PPV because of those old memories of the granite jawed brawler with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth.

I will likely seek out a way to watch this bout as well.

I won't light a cigarette, though as I've quit now for some two years. Phone Post

VU for good analogy.

People jizzed in their pants for the tame shit that Chael said about Anderson's wife but that was nothing compared to what Mayorga said to DLH.

Boxers always seem to have more entertaining personalities then MMA fighters imo. Phone Post 3.0

Weigh in. Mayorga looks old but can't underestimate his punching abilities. He's a killer.
