Back in December UFC President Dana White told the media that he had signed a new ten bout contract extension with UFC champion Anderson Silva. Shortly after long time manager Ed Soares refuted the story, citing the deal hadn't been finalized.

During a Q&A yesterday, White expressed that he now thought the deal was done:

A much-reported deal to extend Anderson Silva's time in the UFC is done, according to Dana White

While the UFC president hedged slightly by saying "as far as I know," he said Silva's new contract is for 10 fights. He didn't say whether the deal had an expiration date.

"I haven't talked to Anderson in about a month, but as far as I know, it's done," White said during a fan Q&A sponsored by the UFC's official wireless partner, MetroPCS

Silva's longtime manager, Ed Soares, declined comment to MMAjunkie.com.

At 38 years old and having defended his UFC title a record ten times, it is likely that this contract extension will bring the middleweight champion to the end of his career.

I honestly can't see him fighting 10 more fights. Sounds like a smart business move on his part to secure a high pay for fights regardless of outcomes. Phone Post 3.0

I personally would love to see him fight 10 more fights...I would however like to see him retire on top too.

This has to be a fight-by-fight basis, and in the fine print, it must say something about how Anderson can void it any time.

Maybe like a, "If you want 10 fights, you've got 10. You don't have to use them all, but again, if you want the 10, we're more than happy to oblige."

I understand wanting to go out on top, but this makes sense. Even if he eventually loses, doesn't make a huge difference.

Make money while you can!

A 10-fight contract in a case like this is just a way of making sure they have him for the rest of his career. It's doubtful that he'll fight 10 more times, and I'm sure Dana knows this.

THE Louisville Cardinals - That contract will never be fulfilled.

This, if it's even the real terms. In 3 years there will be more money in it, why sign for 10 fights when you're the best?

Keep dreaming. Anderson isn't fighting until he's 43.

Does anybody think they are making it for 10 fights to ensure that for some reason, he doesnt end up in another organization down the line?

What does "in 3 years there will be more money in it" mean?

I honestly do not see him fighting 10 more fights because there is not 10 guys out there that he or his management would even agree on.. I HOPE we are lucky enough to see 10 more fights as fans that would be awsome! But i cant see him fighting 2 times a year. Whos next after weidman win or lose?GSP, JBJ? Rockhold,belcher,bisping,lombard,Hendo2
Am i missing anyone that would even deserve to be in the ring with the GOAT? I certainly dont want to see any more rematches except HENDO because he deserves it. If he were to beat Hendo again, that would cement his legacy even more than it already is. I just want to see him fight!!!! ASAP Phone Post 3.0

Crazy thing is that in A. silvas long career he hasnt been in "wars" or taken hardly any damage, i mean even in the sonnen 1 fight he didnt have any blood or bruises, swelling visible. Its like the mans made out of titanium. Even when let bonnar tee off on his face no signs of damage after. I cant even think of 1 fight ive ever seen his own blood..ever. Its nuts Phone Post 3.0

chuck seemed to take no damage till he was getting ktfo in every fight too. same w/ roy jones. when silva's reflexes slow... his hands down defense will fail him like roy jones and he'll be ktfo bad. he's rolling with all the punches that they are doing on him in his fights because his reflexes are fast and he's sees them coming.

I WISH he would fight 10 more times, but, it's not likely. The likely outcome is 3-4 fights I we are lucky. If he does that and still retires undefeated in the UFC, what a fucking accomplishment. That will be what, 20-0? Phone Post 3.0

Never sign a long-term fight deal. The UFC probably can still cut him at any time for any reason, so there's no purpose of this deal except from the UFC's side.

Think he's got about 3-4 fights left at most but who knows.

I'd love to see him fight 10 more times but it greatly increases his chances of losing and would rather he retire undefeated in UFC as GOAT.

Possible matches I'd love to see after Weidman...

Marketing ploy to make him seem more long term viable and on top than he is. Huge Silva fan but he's nearing the end. Phone Post
