So you had Chael/Jones with a full season of TUF and 8 month leadup.

Fairly mediocre rest of card.

Seemed like many fans didn't buy into the hype of a competitive main event. Chael had only drawn well against Anderson even though he had a reputation for it. But TUF had to help.

What kind of numbers?

I assume it did right around 500,000 buys. The card was pretty weak and they sold a gimmick fight for a main event, without Sonnen it probably would of done way less too.

I hope 160 breaks 800,000 because that card needs the exposure...it will be amazing.

I think Dana said at the post fight scrum that it did better than they were expecting.

Dead Again - I don't want to hear what you think of cards from other promotions.

I try not to judge them against UFC cards. Maybe mediocre is unfair, it just didn't interest me as much as last week's free card. For me, it wasn't enough to overcome what I thought was a mismatch of a main event.

Around 800k, would not be surprised if it did a million.

'merica stop buying f'in ppv's

be a fan.. find amateur mma in your area.. or save your money and attend a live UFC show, that would be a better experience and you would wouldn't waste time on b.s. events

it's interesting that although Bisping is popular in the UK, they don't add to PPV buys. Especially since he had the highest *listed* salary.

I think it will go close to 750k.. not sure if they count other country buys but it had a lot of interest in Australia with bisping/jones/sonnen on the card..

i,m from uk most people who watch ufc here do it though espn, so yes uk does not add ppv buys it seems.

but i bought 159 from ufc website and hooked it up to my tv, main card started 3am cost £10 about $15.5 would this not count as 1 buy i wonder? at a guess would only add a few thousand anyway if they did.

Also think bisping is a solid name to have on ppv, some people will buy to see him win or buy hoping he gets knocked out.

Willin -

Voted you up because that was the main reason I didn't get it. This was only the second card I passed on since UFC 51 or 52. Had a flight early in the morning and said if the pre-lims are good ill order. Once Joe said this card is cursed and they replayed the Mcmann fight again after just seeing it, I said I'm good. ^ I have to imagine that many weren't pleased to spend $60 after how it turned out. Sometimes you regret it in the morning.

Preliminary estimates for UFC 159, headlined by Jon Jones' successful light heavyweight title defense against Chael Sonnen, indicate pay-per-view buys coming in between 520,000 and 550,000.

I was there and I'm a huge Chael fan but that was a very shitty experience. Kinda glad it didn't do amazing numbers. Phone Post
